Japan’s Financial Services Agency said it achieved its digital finance policy goals, including cryptocurrency regulatory reform and support for stablecoin adoption, in its financial administration performance report for July 2025 through June 2026.
According to CoinPost, the agency said a bill to bring cryptocurrencies under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and introduce insider trading rules passed parliament in July. Once the revision takes effect, cryptocurrency taxation is expected to shift from the current comprehensive tax regime, with a top rate of 55%, to a separate tax system of around 20%. The agency also said it is working to expand related use cases, including by supporting a joint yen stablecoin issuance by Japan’s three megabanks.
