ToolsGPT

The newly introduced ToolsGPT by Bybit combines the machine learning capabilities of ChatGPT with the exchange’s market data, offering users a comprehensive set of features. Traders will now have access to technical analysis, price data, and metrics, all generated through AI technology. ToolsGPT will also provide personalized responses to individual inquiries, catering to the unique needs of each trader.

Bybit’s AI-powered offering is designed to provide insights and predictions for various cryptocurrency trading scenarios. By analyzing market data for multiple cryptocurrencies, ToolsGPT can identify price trends and utilize technical indicators to forecast future market movements. This service is accessible to traders of all experience levels, allowing them to make more informed decisions based on historical and real-time market data.

Bybit announced the availability of the AI-powered trading tools via a blog post published to its website on Thursday and via Twitter. Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, emphasized the innovative integration of ChatGPT and its role in empowering traders with advanced tools and insights. By leveraging historical and real-time market data, as well as AI-generated advice, traders can gain a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics to make better-informed decisions.

Exchange AI integrations

Bybit joins other cryptocurrency exchanges in exploring the potential of ChatGPT. Crypto.com introduced its own user assistant powered by ChatGPT, named Amy, in May. Binance also integrated OpenAI’s chatbot into its Binance Academy platform, providing users with responses sourced from a database of articles and information on the broader Web3 ecosystem.

Additionally, OKX has integrated EndoTech’s AI tools to analyze market volatility and identify trading opportunities. This move reflects the growing recognition within the cryptocurrency industry of AI’s potential to enhance trading strategies and improve overall user experiences.

Solana Labs also joined the AI revolution by launching a ChatGPT-powered plugin. This plugin enables users to check wallet balances, conduct transfers of Solana-native tokens, and trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs) seamlessly.

It’s been a busy couple of months for the company. Last month, Bybit announced the extension of its service offering to include crypto lending. Also in May, it achieved “in principle” approval from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) in Kazakhstan to trade in the country. In April, it publicized that it had chosen Dubai as the company’s global headquarters. In an effort to further establish roots in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), earlier this month it founded a blockchain scholarship program in conjunction with the American University of Sharjah (AUS).

As the cryptocurrency industry continues to evolve, the integration of AI technology holds great promise for enabling more effective and informed trading strategies. That’s something that Bybit Advisor Anndy Lian underscored at the Brand Launchpad Event held in Vietnam last month. With Bybit’s integration of ChatGPT, traders can expect an enhanced trading experience through the use of AI-powered tools and insights.

Korean Prosecutors Allocate $734K Budget for Crypto Crime Investigations

Korean Prosecutors Allocate $734K Budget for Crypto Crime InvestigationsThe South Korean Supreme Prosecutors’ Office has earmarked a budget of up to KRW 986 million (approximately $734,000) this year for investigations pertaining to virtual assets, according to data received by the local newspaper Law Times from the Ministry of Justice last Thursday. The significant size of the budget suggests that the prosecution is prioritizing efforts to combat the growing surge in virtual asset-related crimes.Photo by Tingey Injury Law Firm on UnsplashBudget divisionWithin this budget, KRW 778 million has been designated for the purchase of software licenses for virtual asset tracing and analysis equipment, while KRW 280 million has been allocated for an integrated strategic plan to establish a platform for analyzing and tracing unauthorized virtual asset transactions. The budget for this platform consists of preliminary planning costs. Related expenditures are expected to increase as the project is fully implemented.“It is true that our budgets are being concentrated on crimes related to virtual assets due to the fact that they have recently become a social issue,” said a prosecution official. “It may not be a lot compared to our overall budget, but assigning almost KRW 1 billion for one specific field of investigation is still a considerate amount.”Rising crypto crimesIn Korea, crimes associated with virtual assets have been increasing annually. This includes tax evasion, bribery, foreign exchange law violations, and money laundering, as well as cryptocurrency market issues including issuance, listing, and distribution. According to the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, reported cases of suspicious virtual asset transactions received by the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) surged from an average of 66 cases per month in 2021 to 900 cases in 2022, then 943 cases in 2023 — a fourteen-fold increase in just three years.Subsequently, the scale of the damages caused by cryptocurrency crimes has also seen a sharp rise. The total value of all reported damages skyrocketed from KRW 467.4 billion in 2017 to KRW 1.02 trillion last year, more than doubling in five years. The cumulative loss over this period exceeds KRW 5.3 trillion.Focused effortsThe prosecution has thus dispatched financial experts from organizations including KoFIU and Korea Exchange to create a joint virtual asset crime investigation unit under the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office dedicated to investigating cryptocurrency crimes. The prosecution’s Cybercrime Investigation Division has also begun developing a tracking system optimized for the Korean market to trace the flow of virtual assets. The foreign software that is currently being used for tracking comes with considerable expenses and limitations, particularly for tracking flows within the domestic market, where there are many transactions involving smaller, locally-issued cryptocurrencies called “kimchi coins.”“We are dedicating our manpower and technological development to virtual asset investigations,” said a high-ranking official from the prosecution. “We will also strive to secure the budget necessary for these efforts.”

ClearVue Partners-Backed Crypto Startup Fund Closed at $50M

ClearVue Partners-Backed Crypto Startup Fund Closed at $50MThe CVP NoLimit Fund I, a crypto-centric fund established by China’s ClearVue Partners, a private equity specialist, has been closed out, reaching a funding level of $50 million.Photo by micheile henderson on UnsplashFunding target achievedThe closing of the fund was announced recently by No Limit Holdings, an investment partnership specializing in global crypto assets based in Malta. ClearVue had entered into a joint venture with No Limit Holdings in order to establish the fund. No Limit Holdings was founded by former Binance Chief Strategy Officer Gin Chao. Partnering with Chao in that venture is another former Binance executive, Anatoly Kondiyakov, who served as Binance’s Head of APAC Institutional Sales in Singapore for four years.News of the fund first emerged in October 2022, when the fund promoters started to distribute a pitch deck. It’s understood that the fund was targeting investment into layer one blockchains prior to their native tokens going live.Chao made the following statement relative to the closing of the fund:“We are grateful for the confidence and trust that our partners have placed in us for this first fund, particularly given the breadth of industries our LP base represents and the challenging macroeconomic conditions during this period. At the same time, this has created an ideal window to deploy capital into the exciting opportunities that the current market presents.”Web3 “where the Internet was in the late 90s”ClearVue Partners Founder, Harry Hui, said that the firm was “excited to team up with Gin and the NLH team. They have deep sector expertise and an incredible track record of success.” Hui added that “Web3.0 is where the Internet was in the late 90s and as blockchain adoption increases, we believe there will be significant value creation for both for our investors as well as for our consumer and technology portfolio companies.”The CVP NoLimit Fund I has already invested in more than twenty crypto projects located globally. Two of them have been listed on multiple digital asset exchanges. Meanwhile, the fund’s administrators have suggested that it has established a robust pipeline of investible projects, and that it has the expectation to invest in an additional twenty projects over the course of the next twelve months.Seed-stage focusThe fund has been focusing on early-stage projects and strategic funding rounds, with individual investments of between $250,000 and $3 million. Some of the projects it has backed thus far include Binance.US, crypto and blockchain infrastructure firm Mysten Labs, Singapore-based dApp developer Hogwarts Labs, Connext Labs which claims to be the HTTP of Web3, and decentralized digital asset money market, IQ Labs.Venture capital investment into the crypto and Web3 space broke all records during the last crypto bull market. Naturally, it has suffered a huge decline in its wake. However, the closing out of this $50 million fund demonstrates that ultimately new money will return to the sector. This is further exemplified by a recent announcement by Kraken Ventures, the venture investment wing of the well-known crypto exchange business, setting out that it is raising a second $100 million fund, earmarked for investment within the sector.

India’s Jio Financial Services to Delve Into Blockchain

India’s Jio Financial Services to Delve Into BlockchainJio Financial Services (JFS), a subsidiary of Indian multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries (RIL), is gearing up to venture further into the realm of blockchain and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), according to announcements made by Indian billionaire businessman and Reliance Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani, during RIL’s 46th annual general meeting on Monday.Photo by Shubham Dhage on UnsplashBlockchain ambitionsThe Indian billionaire revealed his Web3-related plans, signaling a strategic move for JFS towards blockchain and centralized digital currencies. While addressing the AGM, Ambani emphasized his current caution regarding highly volatile crypto assets. However, he indicated that he aims to have Jio Financial delve deeper into blockchain technology and permissioned digital currencies, particularly the eRupee CBDC, which is undergoing advanced trials within India.JFS will serve as the entry point for Reliance Industries into the Web3 sector. Formerly known as Reliance Strategic Investments, JFS has been rebranded and will now facilitate management services for digital assets.Consolidating payment infrastructureAmbani’s vision for JFS encompasses the consolidation of payment infrastructure, a strategic effort to drive digital adoption throughout India. JFS hit the headlines in July when it was revealed that it was forging a major partnership with BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, valued at over $100 billion as of August 18.Ambani’s statement during the RIL annual general meeting highlighted JFS’s objectives: “JFS will consolidate its payment infrastructure further driving digital adoption for India. JFS products will explore pathbreaking features such as blockchain-based platforms and CBDC.”CBDC development has been ongoing through initiatives taken by central banks around the world over the past couple of years. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been no slouch in this respect. It is actively engaged in developing its own CBDC, aiming to modernize online payment systems while reducing reliance on physical cash, thereby optimizing operational efficiency. In July, the RBI turned its attention to the cross-border functionality aspect of CBDCs, experimenting with various use cases relative to international payments. At a governmental level, India is also playing a key role in working towards global regulatory standards for cryptocurrencies. The RBI has contributed to the discussion, citing risks associated with stablecoins in a Financial Stability Report released in June and calling for global regulation.RIL CBDC initiativesNotably, Reliance General Insurance recently announced its acceptance of the eRupee CBDC for premium payments, and earlier this year, Reliance Retail initiated the use of India’s digital rupee CBDC across its Mumbai-based stores. The CBDC is anticipated to outperform India’s successful Unified Payments Interface (UPI) mobile payments system, according to V Subramaniam, Managing Director at Reliance Retail.Ambani’s RIL empire encompasses a diverse range of businesses, including Jio’s network services, retail stores, and fuel stations. Mukesh Ambani’s move to embrace blockchain and CBDCs will likely have broader implications beyond his own companies, given that it signals his intention to drive India’s digital transformation forward.
