Bitwise CIO: The era of 1% institutional Bitcoin allocation is ending
November 05, 2025, 11:55 AM
Matt Hogan, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Bitwise, has stated that Bitcoin has entered a "silent IPO" phase and the era of institutions holding just 1% of their portfolios in the asset is ending. He explained that Bitcoin is transitioning from an innovative idea to an established part of the institutional market, a process similar to how tech companies evolve post-IPO as founders sell stakes and institutions become long-term investors. Hogan added that while Bitcoin is undergoing a correction, up approximately 9% year-to-date, its fundamentals remain solid due to ETF inflows, growing regulatory clarity, and expanding institutional demand.
