Interpol has designated large-scale scam compound networks, which heavily rely on cryptocurrency-based online fraud, as a transnational criminal threat. According to Decrypt, Interpol stated that these organizations lure victims with fraudulent job postings and transport them to compounds in countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos. Once there, victims are subjected to forced labor, compelling them to carry out voice phishing, romance scams, and various investment and cryptocurrency frauds. The international police organization emphasized the need for enhanced global cooperation to address the issue.
