Expert: Lazarus Group’s stolen funds can take years to cash out

Crypto investor and personality Eric Wall shared on X that North Korean hacker group Lazarus follows a structured process to launder stolen funds. They first swap ERC-20 tokens for Ether (ETH), then convert ETH to Bitcoin (BTC) and finally cash out BTC into Chinese yuan via Asian exchanges. He noted that this process can take years, citing that North Korea was still holding funds stolen in 2016 as late as 2022.
