South Korean authorities have arrested four individuals accused of stealing 45 Bitcoin worth roughly 5.9 billion won ($4.1 million) from a victim by secretly obtaining their crypto wallet recovery phrase. According to a report by The Kyunghyang Shinmun, the suspects allegedly approached the victim under the pretense of offering a secure storage solution for digital assets.
The Seoul police said on April 25 that two suspects have been charged and handed over to prosecutors, while the other two remain under investigation without detention. Using blockchain forensics, investigators tracked the laundering of the stolen crypto for 10 months before identifying and catching the group.
