Cardano founder unveils details on Midnight airdrop

At Consensus 2025 in Toronto, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson unveiled fresh details about Glacier Drop, the upcoming airdrop for Midnight, Cardano’s privacy-focused sidechain, according to CoinDesk. Aimed at reducing crypto tribalism and advancing “cooperative economics,” Glacier Drop will distribute the NIGHT governance token and DUST privacy transaction token to 37 million wallets across eight major blockchains. In a notable move, the airdrop will completely exclude venture capitalists (VCs) and insiders, with Hoskinson emphasizing its VC-free nature and affirming that recipients will have full freedom to hold, trade or discard the tokens. Midnight is currently in testnet, with its mainnet launch expected by late 2025.
