U.S. SEC Chair: Focus on crypto & DLT regulation

With the 3rd crypto roundtable of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Cryptocurrency Task Force (TFT) underway, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said that the focus will be on cryptocurrency and distributed ledger technology (DLT) regulation. In his speech, he said that innovation has been hampered by market and regulatory uncertainty over the past several years, with the SEC having contributed to that uncertainty. Atkins stated that he wants to solve long-standing problems in the blockchain field. He added that he expects that market innovation will bring about great changes in efficiency, cost reduction, transparency and risk reduction, Odaily reported.
