US senators call for probe into World Liberty Financial over alleged illicit fund ties

U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jack Reed, known for their anti-cryptocurrency stance, have called on the Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury to investigate World Liberty Financial (WLFI) over its alleged links to illicit funds, CNBC reported. In a letter, the senators pointed to reports that WLFI sold its tokens to entities associated with North Korean hacking groups, Russian sanctions evasion platforms, an Iranian cryptocurrency exchange, and the crypto mixer Tornado Cash. WLFI has not yet commented on the matter.
