Turkmenistan passes law to legalize digital assets, effective Jan. 1

Turkmenistan has passed a law to legalize and regulate digital assets in a bid to diversify its economy and attract investment, Reuters reported. The legislation, which takes effect on Jan. 1 of next year, includes provisions for licensing cryptocurrency exchanges and mining companies. It also defines the legal and economic status of digital assets and will regulate their creation, storage, and circulation within the country.
