Barunson’s diversified endeavors

Barunson Group, the parent company of Barunson Labs, has been a major leader in various cultural ventures involving film, drama, virtual reality, games and the metaverse. Notably, its production subsidiary Barunson E&A is known for its investment in “Parasite,” the critically acclaimed movie that won four Oscars at the 92nd Academy Awards.

Earlier this year, Barunson Labs applied for a financial regulatory sandbox — a program under Korea’s Financial Services Commission that offers a special and provisional regulatory exemption for financial services that have been recognized for their innovativeness — to launch security tokens based on films. To gain approval, the firm also released the beta version of CRADE, a blockchain-based service that manages the flow of funds during the film production process.

EQBR’s strategic expansion

Meanwhile, EQBR has been developing a security token offering (STO) platform called Apanda Partners — a joint venture established with Shinhan Securities and Aegis Asset Management that received approval as a financial regulatory sandbox in December of last year. Apanda Partners’ Singaporean branch has since established a localized platform catered to the country’s securities firms and prepared for listing on the country’s regulated investment and trading platform SDAX. Barunson Labs and EQBR plan to list their first security token based on Korean content on SDAX in the first half of next year.

“Starting with our collaboration with Barunson Labs, we are developing a process to make diverse assets available as products on various security token platforms built on EQBR’s technology,” explained Lee Hyun-ki, CEO of EQBR. “We will not simply talk about our technological possibilities but also demonstrate them through real-life cases, proving that investments can be diversified through the use of blockchain technology and smart contracts.”

Lee is also set to participate in the STO Summit hosted by local news outlet Edaily from Thursday to Saturday (local time), where he will deliver a presentation on the application of STO solutions to actual financial services and the future trajectory of this trend. He will also introduce EQBR’s STO platform.

“We are taking a dual-track strategy by simultaneously launching security token products in Korea and in overseas markets like Singapore, which is one step closer to institutionalization,” said Kang Shin-beom, CEO of Barunson Labs. He added that the company would launch more innovative investment products in the future that are poised to boost the status of Korean cultural and entertainment content on the global stage.

Anboto Labs Reveals $3M Funding and Platform Launch

Anboto Labs Reveals $3M Funding and Platform LaunchHong Kong-based crypto trade execution specialist Anboto Labs has successfully secured $3 million in funding and unveiled an institutional-grade non-custodial trading platform.Investors who participated in the funding round included Kronos Ventures, Cherry Crypto, Mechanism Capital, XBTO, and Singaporean digital assets financial services platform Matrixport, contributing to this funding round during the third quarter of this year. Anboto Labs, known for its crypto trading execution tools, has been on a steady growth trajectory, having raised $1.9 million last year, elevating its valuation to $35 million, according to Guillaume Forcade, the company’s co-founder.Photo by Csaba Nagy on PixabayCrypto trade executionFrom its inception, Anboto Labs has consistently generated revenue, and now it’s ready to introduce its execution platform to a broader audience of experienced traders. The public launch of the platform will enable Anboto to scale up to support thousands of traders simultaneously. The newly released platform underwent an extensive 18-month closed beta phase, during which it processed $4 billion in trading volume across 20 exchanges and blockchain networks. Anboto Labs is attempting to distinguish itself in the market with its execution algorithms, including TWAP, VWAP, and iceberg, which are designed to optimize pricing and execution quality.TWAP, or time-weighted average price, can be incorporated into a trading algorithm with a view towards optimizing a trade’s average price while executing the trade over a predefined time period. In recent days, the project’s Head of Quantitative Research, Suren Markosov, took to blogging site Medium to outline how Anboto’s TWAP algorithm is geared up to save on trading costs. According to Markosov, the firm’s approach could lead to traders saving between two and eight basis points in costs.VWAP, or volume-weighted average price, can be used to filter out the “noise” in the market to determine the real buy/sell price that exists within the market within a given period. Meanwhile, an iceberg order is executed such that it is sliced up into smaller orders. In this way, the impact cost of overall trade execution is minimized.Focus on securityAnboto Labs also places a strong emphasis on security. It allows users to sign up without the need for a time-consuming Know Your Customer (KYC) process, offering a streamlined experience. Additionally, the platform provides multi-factor authentication and the option to whitelist IP addresses, further enhancing security measures.Brett Sun, an investor with Cherry Crypto, took to X (formerly Twitter) to recognize Anboto’s platform launch. Sun stated:“Big strides from @guiviaje and the team at @anboto_labs. They’ve come out of beta to democratize access to professional-grade trading tools for all traders.”WOO Network integrationEarlier this week, Anboto announced the integration of Taipei-based liquidity provider WOO Network into its platform. Forcade said that the integration will enable the firm to offer even more efficient trading tools to its users. In the coming months, Anboto Labs plans to expand its trading features with the aim of democratizing access to institutional-grade execution tools for all crypto traders. With a track record and fresh funding behind it, Anboto Labs is setting itself up to potentially make a significant impact in the cryptocurrency trading space, offering traders the tools they need for success in the crypto market.

Silence From Multichain’s Chinese Developers Stokes Fear

Silence From Multichain’s Chinese Developers Stokes FearA prolonged silence from the project leadership behind Multichain, a cross-chain routing network, is causing growing concern among the users of the cross-chain protocol. The network currently holds $1.5 billion in total value locked (TVL).The protocol has experienced five days of stuck transactions, and multiple cross-chain bridge pathways, including Kava, zkSync, and Polygon zkEVM are still offline. Initially, the project’s China-based team attributed the issues to an upgrade that was being fixed. That explanation was changed recently to an ambiguous “force majeure,” leaving users with more questions than answers.Photo by Santiago Lacarta on UnsplashPossible arrests in ChinaAdding to the uncertainty are rumors circulating on Twitter that the core leadership team may have been arrested in China. Although the rumors remain unconfirmed, they have contributed to the growing sense of unease within the community. DJ Qian, one of the co-founders of Multichain who is no longer involved with the project, took to Twitter to share his attempts to seek clarification. Qian mentioned reaching out to Multichain CEO Zhaojun and founding partner Xu Guochang for technical assistance. When asked about Zhaojun’s availability, Qian stated that he was “not available yet.”Users and investors eagerly await updates and clarity from Multichain’s leadership team. However, the team’s lack of communication extends across various forms of social media. In group Telegram messages with the Multichain team, there have been no responses from Zhaojun, and direct messages through the same app have gone unanswered as well. This silence has left the community members puzzled, with little information to rely on.$MULTI price plummetsMeanwhile, the price of Multichain’s native token, $MULTI, has continued to decline. It currently stands at $4.37, representing a 20% decrease over the past 24 hours. The lack of communication and uncertainty surrounding the project have likely contributed to this downward trend in token price. Over the course of the past seven days, the token has decreased in price by 45%.In response to the situation, layer 1 blockchain project Conflux Network has taken precautionary measures by suspending Multichain’s co-mint privileges. This move prevents Multichain from minting tokens on the Conflux blockchain. The Conflux Network has also assured users that it will work with them in case any losses arise due to the ongoing issues.Flight to safetyOther projects and individuals have also reacted to the silence from Multichain’s team. Hong Kong-based HashKey Group, a crypto investment firm, has transferred $250,000 to crypto exchange Gate.io as a precautionary measure. Tron founder Justin Sun has withdrawn 470,000 of the $USDD stablecoin from the Multichain protocol. These actions reflect a growing concern among stakeholders, representing their efforts to mitigate potential risks associated with the uncertainty surrounding Multichain.Furthermore, the Fantom Foundation has withdrawn $2.4 million in liquidity of the protocol’s native $MULTI tokens from the decentralized exchange SushiSwap. It later tweeted out an update stating that the Fantom-Multichain bridge was operating as normal. These withdrawals signal a loss of confidence in Multichain and its native token, as stakeholders seek to protect their investments. As the silence persists, users and investors remain anxious for updates and clarifications from Multichain’s leadership team. The lack of communication and the circulating rumors have cast a shadow of uncertainty over the project, leaving stakeholders in a state of limbo.

KCC sets guidelines for user protection on metaverse platforms

KCC sets guidelines for user protection on metaverse platformsThe Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has established its latest guidelines for ensuring the protection and safety of users of metaverse platforms, dubbed the “Basic Principles for the Protection of Metaverse Users”.Photo by GuerrillaBuzz on UnsplashNavigating the metaverse landscapeAlthough metaverse platforms can create new economic and business opportunities by linking reality with the virtual realm and providing users with a realistic and immersive experience, the agency argued that various problems may arise due to the use of anonymous profiles or avatars. In response, the KCC assembled six voluntary principles for metaverse service providers to apply to their operations through discussions with a policy advisory group for metaverse ecosystem user protection. The group is composed of 29 members, including academics, legal experts and domestic and overseas companies. It has been active since last year.Fostering ethical metaverse environmentsThe principles cover topics like ensuring free yet respectful communication between users; granting users a platform for voicing their opinions on issues related to their rights and interests; and ensuring that transactions involving digital products and services are conducted on proper terms. They also urge companies to give users the right to use and manage their own data along with that of the metaverse. On a less technical level, the last principle mentions that companies should make efforts to study the long-term impact of the metaverse on users’ physical and mental health, and on society, culture, environment and economy. The agency has also proposed to draft a code of practice outlining more specific measures to protect users, such as prohibiting sexual harassment and stalking, reporting and punishing cyberbullying and transferring the right to purchase NFTs.Responsible governanceMajor metaverse platform operators like Naver, SKT and Meta, who are members of the agency, agreed to apply the guidelines and include them in their relevant terms and conditions documents and service operation regulations. The KCC stated that it plans to monitor whether or not these commitments are met.Although not mandatory, the guidelines are recommended as measures to resolve user inconvenience, enhance service reliability and provide standards for user protection. User protection includes that of children, adolescents and personal privacy.
