The global version of Night Crows, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by South Korean game company Wemade, officially launched yesterday, as announced in the company’s press release

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Night Crows Global maximizes visual performance by delivering highly realistic lighting and shadow effects. The game is set in 13th-century Europe and merges history and fantasy, offering an intriguing in-game universe. Players can enjoy intense battles backed by cutting-edge graphics. They can choose their weapons from four class types –  one-handed sword, staff, two-handed sword and bow – and explore various content including a Unified Exchange.

Tokenomics and character NFTs powered by blockchain technology

Night Crows Global implements multi-tokenomics to tokenize a total of seven types of in-game items and adopts character NFTs, which compresses game character data into easily identifiable attributes.

These character NFTs can be exchanged for the game’s main token, CROW, within the WEMIX PLAY blockchain gaming platform, connecting the in-game and real-world economies. In addition, the omnichain network strategy enhances user accessibility, enabling users of other blockchain networks connected to Wemade’s WEMIX3.0 ecosystem to play the game with ease.

Meanwhile, Night Crows has already demonstrated its popularity before the global launch. Since its initial launch in April last year in Korea, the game topped mobile game sales on Google Play and App Store, the two most prominent mobile app markets in the country.

Upcoming in-game events

In celebration of the global launch, Night Crows Global holds various in-game events for up to four weeks. The month-long celebration comprises a check-in event “Festival 1: Answer to the Call,” a mission event “Festival 2: Birth of a New Member” and a ranking event “Festival 3: News from the Night Crow Perch.” By completing these events, players will be rewarded with various items such as “Dawn’s Lustrous Weapon Style Summon.”

Wemade CEO Henry Chang expressed his excitement about the global launch, saying that Night Crows Global will be able to capture global audiences’ attention by offering new omnichain experiences and high-quality multi-tokenomics. He added that Night Crows Global’s success will revitalize not only WEMIX PLAY but also spur the overall growth of the WEMIX mainnet ecosystem.

Kazakhstan establishing national crypto reserve

Kazinform, the state-owned official news agency of Kazakhstan, has reported that the central Asian republic is working towards the establishment of a national crypto reserve. The news agency revealed that in answering an inquiry from a member of the Kazakhstan parliament, Timur Suleimenov, Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, said that the central bank is currently studying information related to the formation and management of a national crypto reserve. Photo by engin akyurt on UnsplashFollowing best international practicePlans are being devised for a crypto reserve on the basis that best international practice as applied to sovereign wealth fund management is adopted. In this respect, guidelines related to transparency of accounting and secure crypto custody will be followed. The reserve will be established through an affiliate entity of Kazakhstan's central bank, specializing in alternative investments. In responding to the parliamentary inquiry, Suleimenov also revealed the likely source of funding for the fund. He stated: “International practice shows that the sources for such a reserve may include confiscated crypto-assets, as well as  cryptocurrencies mined by a crypto miner partially owned by the government.” Suleimenov outlined that while crypto assets have proven to be volatile and riskier than other asset classes, having the reserve controlled and managed by a central bank affiliate would result in the required levels of risk management and overall oversight being applied. According to Kursiv, a news organization focused on the Central Asian region, the authorities in Kazakhstan plan to amend relevant legislation so as to enable the effective management of the crypto reserve. Suleimenov stated that the central bank is open to discussing potential legislative amendments with members of Kazakhstan's parliament. The National Bank of Kazakhstan's governor also warned that misinformation by pseudo-business coaches related to cryptocurrencies needs to be curbed. He feels that in order to protect investors, and particularly young people, legal measures will be necessary in an effort to bring about greater transparency within the country’s crypto market. The authorities in Kazakhstan currently have a crypto regulatory framework in place that requires crypto trading platforms that extend their services to local users to have acquired a trading license from the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).  In May, it emerged that the Central Asian republic is planning to establish a pilot project for cryptocurrencies called “CryptoCity.” At the time, Kazakhstan’s president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, delivered a speech at the Astana International Forum outlining that the CryptoCity project would facilitate the use of crypto for the payment of goods and services within a specific geographical zone. Crypto hub potentialEarlier that month, the country’s First Vice-Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Kanysh Tuleushin, said that Kazakhstan had the potential to emerge as a leading cryptocurrency hub within the Central Asian region. Following the implementation of a ban on crypto mining in China in 2021, Kazakhstan experienced an influx of miners, attracted by cheap electricity. However, the arrival of miners was unplanned for, putting extreme pressure on the local electricity grid, resulting ultimately in brownouts and protests. The country once accounted for 27% of global Bitcoin mining. However, regulations introduced in 2023 led to the activity being scaled back considerably.

Intella X Explores Ways to Integrate YGG’s Soulbound Reputation Tokens into Its Wallet

Intella X Explores Ways to Integrate YGG’s Soulbound Reputation Tokens into Its WalletIntella X, a South Korean Web3 gaming platform, has announced its partnership with Yield Guild Games (YGG), a leading DeFi-powered gaming guild.Photo by Shubham Dhage on UnsplashBoosting Intella X’s global presenceThis collaborative effort is expected to boost Intella X’s presence in the global Web3 sector. YGG, boasting a membership base of over 450,000 worldwide and collaborating with more than 80 gaming companies, recently launched Superquest, a new way to earn in-game rewards. Superquest awards soulbound reputation tokens to gamers based on their level of community engagement and contributions. The two organizations will explore ways to integrate YGG soulbound reputation tokens into Intella X Wallet (IX Wallet), a Web3 wallet designated for the Intella X platform. In an attempt to expand its ecosystem, Intella X has soft-launched the Android and web versions of IX Wallet. Furthermore, the Korean Web3 platform in February joined forces with IndiGG, a sub-decentralized autonomous organization of YGG in India.Neowiz’s Q2 financialsIn the midst of these developments, Neowiz, the parent company of Intella X, last week disclosed its financial performance for the second quarter. The company garnered revenues amounting to KRW 70.1 billion ($52.7 million), signifying a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%. Neowiz incurred an operating loss of KRW 4.9 billion during the same period, venturing into negative territory in Q2. This setback can be attributed to escalated marketing expenditures associated with the launch of the mobile role-playing game “Brown Dust 2” and the third-year anniversary celebration of the MMORPG title “Kingdom.” The latter is the brainchild of game developer FOW Games, a company Neowiz acquired in May.Meanwhile, Neowiz’s Q2 net income recorded an 8% year-over-year increase, totaling KRW 22.4 billion. This one-time gain is due to the sale of certain shares the company owned in another entity as part of the wider FOW Games acquisition strategy.Path to recoveryIn the latter half of this year, Neowiz is gearing up for recovery, channeling its focus into in-house developed titles. A key highlight among these is the imminent launch of “Lies of P” on September 19. As the launch date of this soulslike video game, inspired by the narrative of Pinocchio, draws near, the company is poised to offer game packages for pre-sale commencing September 17. These packages will be accessible both online and in-person through the e-commerce platform SSG.com and the warehouse chain E-Mart Traders. An extensive global marketing campaign is also in the works, with Neowiz set to participate in Germany’s Gamescom 2023 later this month.
