Web3 & Enterprise·November 25, 2023, 3:42 AM

BingX, the Singapore-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange platform, has taken the decision to rebrand the business.

Improving the trading experience

The platform, originally known for its role in guiding newcomers into the crypto space through copy trading, claims that the move is designed to elevate the trading experience for users by prioritizing simplicity, efficiency and security.

This transformation includes a substantial overhaul of BingX’s visual identity, highlighted by a streamlined logo that caters to the practical needs of traders. The changes extend to the platform’s color palette and typography on digital platforms, all aimed at making the trading process more intuitive and user-friendly.

Broadening market appeal

While initially recognized for its focus on crypto beginners, BingX is now broadening its horizons. The platform introduces advanced features catering to a diverse range of crypto enthusiasts, from novices to seasoned traders. This expansion underscores BingX’s adaptive approach to the dynamic cryptocurrency market, addressing the evolving needs of its user base.

Megan Nyvold, Head of Branding at BingX, outlined that the rebranding aligns with the company’s enduring vision of democratizing crypto trading globally, emphasizing diversity and creating professional, user-centric trading environments.

From ‘Trading Made Easy‘ to ‘Empowering Traders’

In tandem with the visual changes, BingX has also unveiled a new tagline, transitioning from “Trading Made Easy” to “Empowering Traders.” This shift emphasizes the company’s commitment to supporting traders at all levels, ensuring access to reliable and transparent services.

In a blog post published by the company on Thursday, Nyvold stated:

”Over the past five years, BingX’s vision to build a gateway for the next billion crypto users has been unwavering. As part of this evolution, we have refined our core values with a renewed emphasis on promoting diversity. As we introduce our refreshed brand identity, we reaffirm our assurance of empowering our users, focusing on a more professional and user-centric trading environment that aligns with our vision for collective success.”

This latest move is one of a number of ongoing efforts BingX has made this year to further develop the business. In July, the company introduced AstraBit to the platform, an automated algorithmic trading and portfolio management tool, to enhance and automate the crypto trading experience for its platform users.

The following month, it introduced a Multiple Deposit Addresses feature to enable greater flexibility and convenience for service users. September brought a collaboration with WunderTrading, adding the use of its automated trading bots to BingX platform users. Earlier this year, the company had integrated crypto portfolio tracker CoinTracking with the platform, in an effort to allow service users to generate reports for tax purposes with ease.

BingX was founded in Singapore in 2018 by Josh Lu. The platform claims to have five million service users.

The agenda covered areas such as the writing of STR reports, monitoring based on particular themes and the education of staff members. The gathering featured key participants, including Jin Chang-hwan, Compliance Officer of Korbit, and Yoo Jung-yeol, Head of the Digital Assets Team at Shinhan Bank as well as personnel from both organizations involved in anti-money laundering (AML) initiatives.Focus on complianceEarlier this year, Korbit and Shinhan Bank held a meeting to go over the Financial Intelligence Unit’s (FIU) comprehensive evaluation of virtual asset service providers (VASPs). He affirmed Korbit’s dedication to establishing itself as a secure and reliable cryptocurrency exchange through ongoing collaborations with Shinhan Bank.Meanwhile, Korbit has managed to cut down the review period for STRs to a third of its previous duration. Further details emerge on Philippine CBDC project

The Philippines is on track to finalize Project Agila, its wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) trial, by the end of this year. Three primary use casesThat’s according to statements made on March 6 by Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) —  the Philippine central bank. According to a local news report by GMA News, the Deputy Governor outlined three primary use cases for the wholesale CBDC trials in a press conference: interbank settlement, settlement of securities transactions and cross-border payments. Notably, the Philippines is participating as an observer in the cross-border CBDC project mBridge, which involves China, Hong Kong, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Six domestic institutions are involved in the current tests in the Philippines: BDO Unibank, China Banking Corp, Land Bank of the Philippines, Rizal Commercial Banking, Union Bank of the Philippines and Maya Philippines.Photo by OJ Serrano on UnsplashUsing pilot as ‘learning exercise’Tangonan described the pilot as a "learning exercise in order to put us in a better position to assess whether this technology is what, itself, claims to be.” Typically, central bank accounts are restricted to commercial banks and some central counterparties in financial markets. However, the BSP intends for the wholesale CBDC to be accessible to banks and certain financial institutions. Nevertheless, past tests, including one in Canada, have highlighted potential limitations, such as the inability of brokers to use the wholesale CBDC for settlement. An ongoing interest since 2020The Philippines initially expressed interest in issuing a CBDC in 2020, with the BSP Monetary Board conducting a positive initial assessment of a wholesale CBDC and planning pilot tests from 2022 onwards, known then as Project CBDCPh. The launch of the pilot project was announced in April 2022. In 2023, the Southeast Asian country participated in a pilot study with the Digital Dollar Project, Western Union and BDO Unibank to explore a retail CBDC for remittance purposes. While the study found potential cost reductions and increased transparency and competition, it also identified challenges related to transaction speed, particularly due to most remittances arriving after working hours. Moving away from blockchainLast September, the BSP announced plans to utilize the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain. However, in February, Governor Eli Remolona stated that the CBDC would not be utilizing blockchain technology. At that time, the central bank Governor had indicated the expectation of launching a wholesale CBDC either next year or by 2026. Elsewhere in the Asian region, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) recently announced its own wholesale CBDC trials, Project Ensemble, underscoring the growing interest and activity in CBDC development across various jurisdictions. The Chinese autonomous territory is also cooperating with its colleagues in mainland China in participating in testing of the digital yuan or e-CNY, with a particular focus on cross-border payments.India represents another key Asian nation which has devoted quite a lot of time and resources to CBDC development already. However, a report last month suggested that the world’s most populous country has concerns with regard to the question of privacy relative to CBDC use. For that reason, it has determined the need to remain cautious while continuing CBDC development.
