Factors driving VELO's growth

The primary factor fueling VELO's rapid ascent is its substantial trading volume, particularly in the Asian market. According to Santiment data, VELO's trading volume has surged to $95.95 million, a noteworthy figure for a token outside the top 100. This surge in volume reflects growing interest and confidence in VELO, attributed to its integration with leading blockchain platforms such as Solana (SOL) and Binance Smart Chain.

VELO has demonstrated significant progress, with a 57% increase over the past seven days and an impressive 225.51% surge over the last 30 days. Despite recent market fluctuations, VELO has maintained a bullish trend, recording a 16.88% rise from a 24-hour low. Santiment's Weighted Sentiment metric indicates a bullish outlook for VELO compared to XRP, further bolstering investor confidence in VELO's potential.

Contributing factors to VELO's success

Several factors have contributed to the unprecedented surge in VELO's value. Notably, VELO tokens are stored in reputable self-custody wallets such as Ledger, Lobstr, and Freighter, enhancing their popularity among investors. Endorsements from crypto influencers, who have labeled VELO as the "XRP killer," have also amplified investor interest.

Additionally, VELO's strategic partnerships with industry leaders like iRemit, Visa and Lightnet have expanded its regional market and validated its capacity to revolutionize cross-border payments and digital financing solutions. As a result, VELO has witnessed substantial growth in trading volume, with its price reaching $0.029 per token.

VELO's rise signifies its potential as a catalyst for innovation in the cryptocurrency sphere, akin to XRP. Its unique combination of smart contracts, absent in the XRP blockchain, adds to its appeal for investors seeking efficiency and versatility in financial transactions. Velo Labs' focus on revolutionizing international remittance markets further solidifies VELO's position as a game-changer in the crypto landscape. With the possibility of expanding its popularity beyond Asia, VELO's market cap could experience significant growth, further cementing its presence in the cryptocurrency market.

Kyrgyzstani President Embraces Hydro-Powered Crypto Mining

Kyrgyzstani President Embraces Hydro-Powered Crypto MiningIn a move that signals the Republic of Kyrgyzstan’s growing interest in cryptocurrency mining, President Sadyr Japarov has given the green light to establish a crypto mining farm at a hydroelectric power plant within the Central Asian country. The ambitious project, set to be built at the Kambar-Ata-2 hydropower plant, has been allocated a budget of up to $20 million, as reported by Kyrgyzstan’s national news agency, Kabar, on Thursday.Photo by Collab Media on PexelsMore efficient use of powerThe primary motivation behind this endeavor is to address energy losses linked to non-utilized power from the Kambar-Ata-2 plant, which has been operational since 2010. According to President Japarov, approximately 6.8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy have been wasted due to this issue. By harnessing the excess energy for cryptocurrency mining, the Kyrgyz government aims to optimize resource usage and bolster the country’s budget.President Japarov emphasized that the profits generated from the mining farm would directly benefit the people, particularly the power engineers who are responsible for the plant’s operations. He asserted that the earnings would be meticulously controlled and allocated, with complete automation and oversight.Energy grid challengesHowever, this recent decision appears to contradict the state of emergency announced by President Japarov in Kyrgyzstan’s energy sector on July 24. The emergency status, which will be in effect from August 1, 2023, until December 31, 2026, is attributed to climate challenges, insufficient water inflow into the Naryn River basin, and a lack of generating capacity due to escalating energy consumption.Despite these apparent contradictions, President Japarov affirmed that crypto mining at the hydro plant would be subject to the highest tariff in Kyrgyzstan, amounting to approximately 5 Kyrgyz soms ($0.057) per kW.As early as March 2022, Kyrgyz lawmaker Karim Khanjeza urged the government to legalize the cryptocurrency industry during a parliamentary committee meeting, citing the rapid expansion of the crypto space. Although Kyrgyzstan introduced some regulations for crypto exchanges in 2021, it has not yet enacted specific laws governing cryptocurrencies. The integration of hydro-powered crypto mining presents both opportunities and challenges for Kyrgyzstan. If executed strategically, the venture could harness underutilized energy to boost the national economy and provide benefits to the people.Learning from KazakhstanThat said, the Central Asian country would do well to pay heed to events that unfolded in neighboring Kazakhstan relative to crypto mining over the course of the last few years. Following a major crackdown on crypto mining activity in China, many miners upped and moved their operations to Kazakhstan. That sudden unplanned and unregulated upsurge destabilized the country’s power grid, forcing the government to crack down on mining. It has since regulated the activity in order to accommodate it without it having a detrimental effect on the energy grid.As developments unfold, Kyrgyzstan’s foray into cryptocurrency mining will undoubtedly be closely monitored by industry observers and stakeholders. President Japarov’s vision to distribute the earnings to ordinary citizens brings an element of promise to the project. Crypto mining can be a positive development for the country, leading to more efficient energy use, so long as the authorities plan accordingly.

Blockchain Solutions Provider Block Odyssey Launches NFT Ticket Service, “MakeDrop”

Blockchain Solutions Provider Block Odyssey Launches NFT Ticket Service, “MakeDrop”Korean blockchain solutions startup Block Odyssey said Monday it is launching an NFT-based ticket issuance service dubbed “MakeDrop” in an effort to revolutionize ticketing and event services in the era of Web3.Photo by Andrey Metelev on UnsplashLimitations of traditional digital ticketsUntil now, major ticket reservation platforms have made it challenging for event organizers to streamline the ticketing process for events such as corporate or campus gatherings, concerts, festivals, and more.Event organizers have thus had to manually send notifications via text messages and emails, print paper tickets, and directly manage overall ticket sales and distributions. The absence of tools to identify ticket holders from attendees also makes it difficult to accurately determine participation and contribution ratios.Blockchain meets ticketingBut with the rapid advancement of digitized ticket issuance, NFT tickets have been gaining traction as a transparent and secure solution to such challenges. These tickets are verified and stored on a blockchain, setting them apart from traditional forms of digital tickets such as barcodes.About MakeDropBlock Odyssey’s MakeDrop is an open service that allows anyone to easily create, issue, and manage one-of-a-kind NFT tickets with individual ownership rights and transaction history. If secondary ticket transactions occur, all ownership changes can be verified on the blockchain, making it possible to block attempts at fraudulent or repetitive secondary trading. The service is particularly convenient for users, as they can automatically generate a wallet address for storing their NFTs by logging in to social media accounts without having to install a separate cryptocurrency wallet. As for event organizers, they can swiftly issue mobile tickets without using third-party ticket reservation platforms. Ticket invitations are sent to recipients via KakaoTalk, South Korea’s most popular messaging app, making the service more accessible as well. Those who have not received an invitation can still apply for participation if the event is public. Upon acceptance by the organizer, they will receive an approval notification through KakaoTalk, Block Odyssey explained.Participants can then present the NFT ticket’s QR code on the day of an event, and organizers can conduct real-time validation using the QR check feature provided by MakeDrop.Notably, while traditional ticket reservation platforms often do not share ticket holder information with event organizers, MakeDrop allows independent information management for all events. This allows organizers to identify low-engagement or idle members and offer more benefits to loyal participants. As part of its website launch promotion, MakeDrop is currently holding an event to distribute 100,000 free NFT tickets. The company also plans to release a mobile app in the future after incorporating user feedback and enhancing functionalities.
