Games of different genres and platforms

Sevenline Labs is currently operating a Web3-powered esports tournament platform called Miracle Play. Leveraging application programming interfaces (APIs), the platform offers games of different platforms of genres on blockchain networks. It enables mobile, desktop, console and Web3 gamers to engage in diverse tournaments and earn rewards from competitions.

Sevenline’s inaugural service, operating on the Polygon Network, has successfully completed a closed beta test specifically targeted at Indonesian communities. Currently, the company is in the process of conducting an open beta test. Looking ahead, Sevenline is planning to extend its support to various chains compatible with Ethereum virtual machines (EVMs). This expansion includes notable blockchain platforms such as Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Oasys, Solana and Klaytn. The ultimate objective of Sevenline is to orchestrate large-scale tournaments between different mainnets, with each of them representing a distinct faction.

Through the collaboration between NEOPIN and Sevenline Labs, NEOPIN’s global partners will introduce their Web3 games to the Miracle Play platform. This move allows users to voluntarily host and participate in various tournaments, thereby enhancing the visibility and popularity of these games. Concurrently, Web3 gaming companies that have formed partnerships with Sevenline will be incorporated into the NEOPIN ecosystem.

Native tokens to be supported

The integration of the NEOPIN wallet with Miracle Play is a strategic move that aims to attract a global user base, particularly those who have completed Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks. This strategy presents a win-win scenario for both NEOPIN and Miracle Play. NEOPIN benefits by gaining access to a dedicated community of Web3 gamers who will actively organize and partake in tournaments on the Miracle Play platform. In return, Miracle Play taps into the decentralized finance (DeFi) user base associated with NEOPIN. Furthermore, both platforms plan to support their native tokens — the NEOPIN (NPT) token and the Miracle Play (MPT) token in the future.

Ethan Kim, CEO of NEOPIN, expressed that the partnership will be beneficial in three aspects: attracting Web3 gaming partners, acquiring mutual users and expediting the adoption of the Web3 gaming ecosystem. He emphasized NEOPIN’s commitment to accelerating the global expansion of the NEOPIN ecosystem through these strategic efforts in promoting the Web3 gaming sector.

Chinese tech groups pause Hong Kong stablecoin plans amid regulatory scrutiny

Several leading Chinese technology firms have reportedly shelved their plans to launch stablecoins in Hong Kong, following regulatory pushback from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). According to the Financial Times, the authorities have expressed growing concerns over the risks posed by privately issued digital currencies, prompting companies to delay their initiatives.Photo by Jacky Yu on UnsplashBeijing’s focus on control and digital yuanThe companies’ hesitation underscores Beijing’s broader push to preserve control over its monetary system while advancing the rollout of its central bank digital currency (CBDC), the e-CNY. Earlier this month, the PBOC unveiled a new Shanghai-based center to oversee the e-CNY’s international operations, signaling China’s ambition to extend the digital yuan’s reach beyond its domestic market. Over the summer, companies including Ant Group, backed by Alibaba, and e-commerce platform JD.com signaled interest in Hong Kong’s pilot stablecoin initiative or in issuing crypto products such as tokenized deposits. Those plans are now on hold as firms assess policy signals from Beijing and weigh the implications for their businesses. Research efforts reflect China’s cautious approachChina’s cautious stance is also reflected in its research priorities. The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), a vice-ministerial body under the Ministry of Science and Technology, has begun inviting grant applications for projects focused on stablecoins and cross-border regulatory frameworks. In announcing the initiative, the NSFC cautioned that the unchecked circulation of privately issued stablecoins could erode the effectiveness of the country’s capital controls. Globally, approaches to fiat-pegged digital assets diverge. In the United States, President Donald Trump in July signed the GENIUS Act, the country’s first stablecoin legislation, into law. A White House fact sheet argued that stablecoins could strengthen demand for U.S. Treasuries and reinforce the dollar’s standing as the world’s dominant reserve currency. In Europe, however, regulators remain wary. In a blog post that same month, European Central Bank (ECB) adviser Jürgen Schaaf warned that the widespread use of U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins in the euro area could pose financial risks, noting that dollar-based tokens already account for the vast majority of global stablecoin market capitalization. Geopolitics adds to market volatilityThe recalibration by Chinese firms comes against a turbulent geopolitical backdrop. Cointelegraph, citing President Donald Trump’s interview with Fox News, reported that Trump is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for Oct. 31 to Nov. 1. The anticipated meeting follows a string of shifting statements from Trump throughout October—ranging from skepticism about meeting Xi, to announcing new 100% tariffs on Chinese imports, and later adopting a more conciliatory tone. The back-and-forth has coincided with heightened volatility across crypto markets. Market turbulence deepened as a wave of liquidations swept through crypto derivatives, erasing nearly $20 billion in positions on Oct. 10, the largest such event on record. Bitcoin plunged to as low as $104,749 on Oct. 17 and has since rebounded to around $114,000 as of Oct. 28. The pullback by Chinese tech groups underscores the fine line regulators and firms must navigate: advancing digital finance innovation while safeguarding monetary stability and control. How that balance is managed across China, the U.S., and Europe will shape the future of stablecoins and define their place in the evolving global financial order.

HashKey on-boards market makers to boost liquidity

HashKey on-boards market makers to boost liquidityHashKey, a licensed crypto exchange in Hong Kong, has unveiled plans to onboard individual and enterprise market makers to enhance liquidity on its platform.Photo by engin akyurt on UnsplashMarket maker programIn an announcement on Tuesday, the exchange disclosed that interested parties, whether individuals or entities, can apply to become market makers on HashKey. To qualify, applicants need to engage in cryptocurrency trading worth a minimum of $5 million per month on the exchange. The exchange outlined that the program aimed to “recognize and incentivize users actively contributing to the liquidity” of the platform.Upon submitting their business plans for review, successful applicants will be invited to enter into a contractual agreement with the exchange’s due diligence team, commencing trading activities from Dec. 28 onwards when the program goes live.Commission free tradingThe exchange aims to encourage liquidity providers by offering a commission ranging between 0.005% and 0.015% of the transaction value, determined by monthly rankings or trading volumes, falling within a tiered structure set out within the program. Market makers demonstrating a trading volume of at least $100 million per month stand to enjoy the highest tier of commission revenue. Notably, all market makers will be exempt from commission fees on their trades.Market makers who participate via the program will be on trial for an initial two-month period. Those who are participating in market maker programs on other platforms currently will be able to avail of equivalent trial fee rates through the HashKey exchange.Service expansion trendThe move by HashKey follows a broader trend in Hong Kong, where regulated exchanges have been expanding their services and forming strategic partnerships since the issuance of the first licenses in August. In a recent development, OSL, another Hong Kong licensed exchange, collaborated with Interactive Brokers on November 28, enabling Hong Kong clients to buy Bitcoin through Interactive Brokers’ investment accounts.Additionally, on November 30, OSL welcomed Victory Securities for crypto trading services on its platform. That move came about following Victory’s acquisition of a retail crypto trading license some days beforehand. Notably, OSL received a $90 million investment from blockchain entity BGX in November. While HashKey has been extending its altcoin offerings, exclusively available to accredited investors meeting a $1 million portfolio requirement, the exchange has been proactive in enhancing user security. On Nov. 16, the platform introduced comprehensive insurance coverage for users’ and enterprise assets stored within its digital wallets in collaboration with fintech firm OneDegree.Earlier this week, it emerged that the platform had experienced an unprecedented surge in daily trading volumes. The surge had been attributed to a token rewards program that the exchange is currently running, that offers the distribution of HSK tokens or EcoPoints. As HashKey opens its doors to market makers, the move is poised to contribute to increased liquidity on the exchange, aligning with the broader trend of Hong Kong’s regulated crypto exchanges expanding their offerings and forming strategic partnerships.
