Publishing entertaining and insightful crypto news

Launched in 2021, Conut is dedicated to providing crypto news in a way that is fun, straightforward and appealing to younger demographics, considering that crypto is more popular among younger age groups. It simplifies complicated topics like Play-to-Earn (P2E) games, the metaverse, cryptocurrency regulations and spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) using trendy memes and internet vernacular instead of formal language. Currently, the newsletters are available on the official Conut website or via email subscription, which has accumulated over 8,000 subscribers as of this month. In the future, Conut plans to launch a mailing service as well as a P2E app called Coquiz to increase accessibility and reach more people who are interested in crypto and blockchain.

Through this newest collaboration with Foblgate, content from Conut’s recent newsletters will be featured on Foblgate’s main page, providing users with access to a wealth of information on a wide range of topics, from crypto basics to the latest trends.

“By making Conut’s content easily accessible to our users, we intend to promote a better general understanding of blockchain and resolve information asymmetry. We plan to explore and offer more content in the future for our users to take advantage of,” said Foblgate CEO Ahn Hyun-jun.

The founders of Conut, Lee Choong and Jo Hana, also expressed their anticipation for the collaboration, stating that it would be a great help in disseminating quality content.

Nurturing creativity

Foblgate has been an active proponent of content production and promotion. Earlier this year, the exchange co-hosted the Self-Made Genius Contest — a contest for exploring creative projects in traditional and digital art.

OKX and KuCoin lead $9M investment into UXLINK

UXLINK, a Web3 social network headquartered in Singapore, has announced a successful funding round raising $9 million, supported by a mix of private crypto and publicly listed companies including OKX and KuCoin. UXLINK announced details of the funding round in a social media post published to X on March 13. The startup, known for its innovative approach to social networking merging with transactions, has seen its user base grow to 3.5 million users. Among the investors contributing to this round are OKX Ventures, Web3Port Foundation, Cypher Capital, KuCoin Ventures, Gate Labs and Matrixport Ventures. ZhenFund, 7UPDAO, Signum Capital, ECV and GGV Capital were also participants. In a blog post Dora Yue, Founder of OKX Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about UXLINK's concept, stating:"This innovative concept merges social networking and transactions, creating a robust ecosystem where people can fully leverage their digital assets."Photo by Towfiqu barbhuiya on UnsplashAcquaintance-based social networkingYue described UXLINK as a game-changer in the field of Web3 social infrastructure. The project differentiates itself by relying on acquaintance social networking. Other Web3 social protocols such as Farcaster, Nostr, Cyberconnect and Lens Protocol are structured around one way follower relationships between key opinion leaders (KOLs) and followers. By contrast UXLINK takes a different approach, building a social network by placing emphasis on the existing social relationships of users with acquaintances. The idea is that real-life acquaintances are established through trust and implicate a much deeper personal connection by comparison with opinion leaders and followers. Speaking to that unique approach, pseudonymous crypto trader and investor Bull Flash stated on X on March 13: “Forget one-sided connections! UXLINK focuses on REAL-WORLD social interactions. Users can connect with each other AND with dApps in real-time through innovative Groups – a game-changer for web3. UXLINK is more than just a platform – it's a MOVEMENT.” Potential for further fundingWhile the exact valuation post-funding remains undisclosed, UXLINK indicated a potential for further funding rounds before its token generation event, signaling continued investor interest in its growth trajectory. With the freshly secured capital, UXLINK aims to introduce the "Social Liquidity Chain," leveraging Optimism and EigenDA technologies to support third-party developments. This initiative is expected to enhance the platform's capabilities and foster a more dynamic user experience. Since its establishment in April 2023, UXLINK has seen rapid adoption, hosting more than 75,000 decentralized groups. The vast majority of its users are located in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South Asia and Africa. The platform's unique approach to social finance, facilitated by its Web3 "UXGroups” on Telegram, emphasizes bridging real-world trust dynamics with decentralized applications. In addition to being an investor in the company, last month the OKX Wallet was integrated with UXLINK in an effort to improve user experience, allowing UXLINK users to manage their Web3 assets more efficiently. UXLINK's successful funding round underscores growing investor confidence in the potential of Web3 social networks and belief in their ability to revolutionize traditional social interactions and financial transactions. As the platform continues to expand and innovate, it is positioning itself to make further strides in reshaping the landscape of digital social interactions and finance.

Newly Published CoinGecko Index Tracks Alleged Crypto Securities

Newly Published CoinGecko Index Tracks Alleged Crypto SecuritiesKuala Lumpur-based crypto data aggregator CoinGecko has unveiled a ground-breaking index spotlighting prominent cryptocurrency tokens that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has earmarked as potential securities.Through its “Top Alleged Securities Coins by Market Cap” page, the Malaysian aggregator categorizes a spectrum of cryptocurrency assets based on their market capitalization. At the forefront of this classification stands BNB, the native token of the Binance exchange and the BNB blockchain. It is closely followed by other prominent names such as Cardano, Solana, and Tron.Photo by Shubham Dhage on Unsplash$90 billion in valueThe alleged securities amount to a whopping $90 billion in value according to their combined market capitalization right now. Putting this in context, the overall market capitalization of the entire crypto market currently stands at $1.2 trillion, of which Bitcoin accounts for over half a trillion dollars. This estimation paints a vivid picture of the immense scale of the cryptocurrency market and the potential reverberations of regulatory interventions.CoinGecko’s index came to fruition in the first week of August, meticulously pooling the tokens that the SEC has previously classified as securities during legal proceedings. The decision to consolidate these tokens into a single index underscores the increasingly intricate interplay between the cryptocurrency market and regulatory frameworks.Lack of clarityWhen project teams and other market participants have asked for explicit clarity, SEC Chair Gary Gensler has frustratingly indicated that people need to make a simple determination based on the Howey Test — a historic securities case that has been used in the US to determine what constitutes a security. The case dates back to 1946, long before the onset of digitization let alone digital currencies.Another issue is that the SEC is simply expressing an opinion based on its interpretation of existing securities law and securities case law. Without legislation in the US, clarity can only be provided in the courts. This is a flawed approach, as market participants have to wait for actions taken by the SEC against crypto entities to be adjudicated in the US courts in order to get a better understanding of the legal standing of these assets. This comprehensive analysis provided by CoinGecko’s new index presents invaluable insights into the dynamic terrain of cryptocurrency regulation. It underscores the intricate dynamics between the digital currency market and the regulatory bodies that seek to govern it.Taking the regulation of derivatives as a case in point, their emergence led to a very messy process of arriving at regulatory clarity. The very same thing is playing out with digital assets. While it is imperfect, there is no doubt that clarity will eventually be reached. In the meantime, as the US fumbles where digital assets are concerned, regional authorities in East Asia and the Middle East are capitalizing on US regulatory shortcomings, implying that we will likely see further growth in crypto and Web3 in these locations until the US recovers.

Korea ST Exchange forms partnership with Finhaven to bolster South Korean security token industry

Korea ST Exchange, an enterprise founded by financial experts for the management and support of security tokens, has signed a business deal with Canadian fintech company Finhaven to revitalize the South Korean security token industry, according to an article published by local news outlet Financial News on Wednesday (KST).Photo by Medienstürmer on Unsplash"Through our collaboration with a global company like Finhaven, we expect to expand and revitalize the local security token ecosystem," said Cho Won-dong, CEO of Korea ST Exchange. "We plan to do our best to create a platform where domestic investors can invest in various products more safely and conveniently." Revolutionizing security token managementFounded in 2017, Finhaven is a Canadian government-approved blockchain platform operator that simplifies the process of managing, issuing, trading and tracking security tokens and digital assets. Meanwhile, Korea ST Exchange has been building a platform for security token trading brokerage that prioritizes investor protection based on relevant legal regulations. Fostering global expansionUnder their agreement, Finhaven and Korea ST Exchange vowed to work together on several fronts. This includes supporting Asset Alliance members in their efforts to issue and distribute security tokens overseas. The Asset Alliance is a functional group created by Korea ST Exchange to accelerate the South Korean security token market while monitoring legal developments in the management of such assets. Conversely, the firms will also support overseas operators in the issuance and distribution of security tokens in the South Korean market. They have also agreed to exchange information and networks and converge their respective platforms to distribute security tokens and tokenized securities. The partnership is mainly an active effort on the part of Korea ST Exchange to help holders of promising underlying assets issue and distribute security tokens overseas since legislation for token securities is not yet in place in South Korea. Once this legislation is established, the enterprise then plans to aid foreign issuers in distributing security tokens in South Korea, enabling domestic investors to look into promising global products.
