Combining zero knowledge and optimistic rollups

The collaboration, unveiled on Monday, signals a significant stride toward cultivating a novel, value-driven decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. Morph, formerly known as Morphism, has garnered attention for its unique use of roll-up technology. By seamlessly blending optimistic and zero-knowledge (ZK) roll-ups, Morph aims to revolutionize scalability, reduce cost barriers, expedite dispute resolutions and ensure secure and adaptable transactions.

The project’s modular framework allows individual components of the ecosystem to evolve independently, staying abreast of rapid innovations in consumer applications.

Combating MEV

A distinctive feature of Morph’s design is the Decentralized Sequencer Network, a mechanism that ensures swift and cost-effective Layer 2 transactions. This challenges the dominance of maximal extractable value (MEV) and eradicates central points of control. MEV involves the maximum amount of value that can be extracted from a block on a blockchain network. It may be manipulated through the ordering and sequencing of transactions on the chain.

Technological innovation is not the sole objective of the Morph development team. Their ambition extends to creating a space where dApps seamlessly integrate into users’ daily lives, delivering tangible value. This consumer-centric approach prioritizes user experience through easy onboarding processes and intuitive interfaces. The network is attractive to developers due to lower cost barriers and accelerated dispute resolution.

Gracy Chen, Managing Director of Bitget, underscored the significance of the collaboration, praising Morph’s exceptional team, multicultural approach and strategic capabilities. Chen notes that Morph’s emphasis on a decentralized and consumer-centric approach aligns seamlessly with Bitget’s vision. This partnership, she believes, has the potential to transform the blockchain space, making the technology more accessible for everyday use and unlocking widespread consumer adoption.

Cecilia Hsueh, Co-Founder and CEO of Morph, expressed gratitude for Bitget’s support, emphasizing that the recent capital infusion underscores confidence in Morph’s unique value proposition, setting the stage for an upcoming seed funding round. The strategic alliance with Bitget provides Morph with a robust platform for growth, tapping into Bitget’s expansive user base of 20 million exchange users and 12 million Bitget Wallet users. Notably, Morph had previously entered into a strategic alliance with Foresight Ventures, a crypto fund based in Singapore.

Looking ahead, Morph is gearing up for significant milestones as it develops further. The project plans to intensify the refinement of its technical framework and broader ecosystem in the coming months. Notably, Morph is slated to launch its public testnet in January 2024, followed by the beta mainnet of its Optimistic zkEVM, which is scheduled for Q2 2024.

As Bitget continues to forge ties with up-and-coming Web3 entities, this collaboration with Morph has the potential to propel the project towards its strategic goals but also sets the stage for a transformative shift in the landscape of Layer 2 solutions.

Bitget Launches Blockchain4Youth Project

Bitget Launches Blockchain4Youth ProjectSeychelles-headquartered crypto derivatives trading platform, Bitget, announced on Thursday the launch of a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) project. The initiative seizes upon an opportunity to execute on a public good while at the same time, benefiting the future prospects of the business itself alongside the overarching crypto space.Blockchain4Youth is a new initiative from the crypto business with the objective of “empowering and inspiring younger generations to use Web3 and crypto tools to create and engage in a decentralized space. ” With this goal, the trading platform believes that a blockchain future can be created.Photo by Jill Wellington on PexelYouth key to crypto adoptionWhile this is a CSR project, it’s easy to interpret it as a win/win. The future success of crypto lies with the younger demographic. They are the ones who are digitally native. They’re the ones that can more easily identify with truly digital money and digitally decentralized systems.Bitget seems to get this according to the statement it issued: “Bitget believes that a blockchain-based future is essential to building better products and tools to help people advance crypto adoption. The platform will be relying on the young generation to promote such ideas and will help them become proactive leaders.”This is telling as it demonstrates firstly that the Seychelles-based platform understands that the younger demographic represents its future customers. But it also clarifies that Bitget understands that future products need to be purpose built to meet the specific needs of that younger demographic.46% of millennials own cryptoIt appears that Bitget’s initiative is further motivated off the back of recent research it carried out. Released last month, that research study reveals that 46% of Millennial respondents said they owned cryptocurrencies, compared to 25% of Gen X-ers, 21% of Gen Z, and just 8% of Baby Boomers. The depth of the study extended to 255,000 survey responses received from respondents distributed across 26 countries, including places as diverse as the United States, Japan, China, Nigeria, Germany, Indonesia, and elsewhere. The study achieved responses per country of at least 10,000 respondents. The research also uncovered that “related statistics compiled on attitudes towards the regulation of digital assets indicate that each successive generation is more likely to factor in the attitudes of electoral candidates towards crypto regulation when casting their vote.”One of the study’s key findings is the following: “By 2030, all Gen Z members will be adults and the spread of blockchain technology by that time could lead to an increase in the percentage of cryptocurrency adopters across all generations. As such, the chances of the growth in acceptance of cryptocurrencies in the coming years are very high.”Broader industry involvementBitget intends to extend involvement in its Blockchain4Youth project beyond the company, with participation coming from other blockchain firms. The press release sets out that “the platform will also collaborate with other leading blockchain firms to incubate innovative projects by young entrepreneurs and host U30 (Under the age of 30) hackathons to identify the most promising ones.”The crypto derivatives platform is kicking things off later this month through a series of campus lectures in Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan covering the topic of Web3. As well as being open to collaborating with industry peers, the company also wants educators to take an active role in the initiative.

Arthur Hayes: Chinese monetary policy could ignite crypto market

Arthur Hayes: Chinese monetary policy could ignite crypto marketArthur Hayes, Co-Founder of Seychelles-incorporated crypto exchange and derivatives platform BitMEX, suggests that China could inject a substantial amount of credit into its economy, potentially giving a boost to Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.Photo by Eric Prouzet on UnsplashPotential flood of yuan creditThe firebrand crypto OG outlined his thoughts on the matter in a blog post which was published on Monday. Hayes discussed how, although China has currently made credit expensive in order to hold back credit growth and inspire confidence in the economy, its monetary authorities might be gearing up to flood the economy with yuan credit, creating a favorable environment for cryptocurrencies. He outlined a series of factors contributing to this potential surge in Chinese credit. He pointed to the interplay between U.S. monetary policy and the Chinese yuan, emphasizing how recent U.S. actions are laying the groundwork for China to issue substantial credit, particularly to its struggling property sector.Describing U.S. policy as “weakening the dollar by issuing more Treasury bills,” Hayes noted the consequent decline of the dollar index (DXY) throughout November. He argued that the weaker dollar gives China the flexibility to increase yuan credit without significant depreciation, possibly even leading to yuan appreciation. If the Federal Reserve at a minimum holds rates and better still, starts to cut rates, China will be in a position to pursue the stimulus needed for its property market and for infrastructure spending.Hong Kong as the gateway to capital marketsAccording to Hayes, the global monetary dynamics set in motion by these factors could be advantageous for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market. He explained that the bulk of the financing will trickle down into speculation within the financial markets. If China starts printing yuan, the capital is likely to flow into global markets, supporting the prices of various risk assets. But how can this happen, given that speculation and crypto trading are prohibited in China? Hayes’ view is that Hong Kong is now China’s gateway to the global capital markets. Wealthy Chinese individuals now bank via Hong Kong. As we have seen, the autonomous Chinese territory has a workable regulatory framework in place and is now actively licensing crypto exchanges and brokers. Consequently Bitcoin and crypto, generally, could be among the risk assets benefiting from an influx of capital.Furthermore, the BitMex co-founder believes that as yuan credit becomes abundant, the global demand for dollar credit and liquidity may decrease. Given that the dollar is a primary funding currency, a fall in the price of credit could lead to a rise in fixed-supply assets like Bitcoin and gold in dollar terms.Hayes concluded what is a long and detailed blog post by stating:“I will continue moving money out of T-bills and into crypto because I want to get in now before it becomes apparent through the data that China’s money printer is going brrrrr.”He suggested that Chinese New Year, which occurs in mid-February of next year, could be the time in which that extra credit materializes in China. Hayes’ latest assertion comes on the back of a bold claim he made last month when he suggested that bitcoin could reach a unit price of $1 million by 2026.
