Offering hope in a job market downturn

"We believe this large influx of applications is due to our recruitment’s role in revitalizing the job market of both domestic and foreign virtual asset industries, which has been inactive lately," the exchange explained.

Coinone opened applications on Jan. 8, recruiting employees for a total of eight fields related to development. As of Monday, more than 600 people have applied.

The exchange’s website received over 3,000 visitors on the first day of recruitment. The final number of applicants is expected to increase as the application deadline is January 26th. More applications are expected to flood in until the deadline on Jan. 26.

Job category preferences

According to the applications by job category, applicants were most interested in front-end positions (57.1%), followed by back-end (24.4%) and data (18.4%) positions. More specifically, positions in front-end development (29.8%), data analytics (21.3%) and Android development (15.8%) had the highest application rates.

The popularity of these categories can be attributed to a combination of Coinone's corporate identity rooted in its solid technology and a positive outlook for this year’s cryptocurrency market. Throughout last year, the exchange also implemented more than 13 service updates across its trading, information and security services, demonstrating its commitment to service integrity and improvement.

HashKey to list platform token later this year

Hong Kong-based digital asset financial services firm HashKey Group has announced its intention to list its platform token, HSK, in Q3 2024. HSK tokenomicsThe company set out details of the HSK listing via a series of posts on the X social media platform. The HSK token is based on the Ethereum ERC-20 token standard. Total token supply will be capped at one billion, 65% of which will be allocated towards ecosystem growth. The team will be incentivized by the allocation of 30% of the supply while 5% will be held back in a reserve fund.  Regarding the token’s burning mechanism, HashKey revealed it retains the discretion to repurchase up to 20% of net profits from specified businesses and subsequently burn the acquired tokens from the total supply.Photo by Zoltan Tasi on UnsplashAirdrop imminentIn a statement shared with The Block, HashKey Group detailed that HSK will be integrated across its various products and applications. The community airdrop, launching in late June, aims to encourage user participation. The company stated:“HSK is scheduled to launch a community airdrop through HashKey's core businesses in late June, encouraging users to contribute to community building.” The company believes that HSK will incentivize ecosystem contributors when it comes to development of its layer-2 ecosystem chain, the HashKey Chain. That incentive structure, the company maintains, will result in contributors “providing robust support,” while acting as a “driving force for on-chain users and assets.”  Integration with external ecosystemsThe firm outlined that the HSK token is designed to integrate with external crypto ecosystems so as to best facilitate synergy between internal and external collaborations. HashKey Group boasts a comprehensive Web3 ecosystem, inclusive of infrastructure, middleware, AI, DeFi, GameFi and the Metaverse. HashKey Group’s core businesses include HashKey Capital, HashKey Tokenisation and HashKey NFT. It also operates HashKey Exchange, a licensed cryptocurrency exchange in Hong Kong, with the exchange business having reached a $500 million assets-under-management (AUM) milestone earlier this month.  HashKey Cloud, a Web3 infrastructure provider, formed a strategic partnership with the Aptos Foundation last month with a view towards progressing projects relative to decentralized identity (DID) and security token offerings (STOs). HashKey Global, a global exchange launched in April, has risen to ninth spot in terms of overall crypto exchange trading volume. In January, HashKey Group announced that it raised nearly $100 million in its Series A financing round, achieving a pre-money valuation above $1.2 billion. In September, the investment arm of the company, HashKey Capital, launched a $100 million fund focused on altcoins.

Korean government to seize crypto for unpaid child support

Korean government to seize crypto for unpaid child supportStarting next year, the South Korean government is set to begin seizing virtual assets such as bitcoin from parents who are obligated to pay child support but fail to do so.Photo by Bonnie Kittle on UnsplashKorea Credit Bureau to assist in crypto seizuresAccording to a report by local news outlet Dailian, the Child Support Agency (CSA) of the Korean Institute for Healthy Family (KIHF), which operates under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, announced on Wednesday (local time) a partnership with the Korea Credit Bureau (KCB). This collaboration will empower the agency to confiscate virtual assets from parents who are delinquent in paying child support.Since 2015, the CSA has been offering emergency child support for approximately a year to low-income single parents who have not received payments from non-custodial parents. In this process, the agency initially pays the child support on behalf of the non-custodial parents and subsequently pursues reimbursement from them. This system ensures that the immediate needs of the children are met while still holding non-custodial parents accountable for their financial responsibilities. Before July 2022, the CSA was required to initiate lawsuits against non-compliant parents to recover child support payments. However, since then, the agency has been authorized to directly pursue reimbursements by following the compulsory national tax collection process.Challenges in enforcing child support paymentsDespite these improved measures, the government still encountered challenges in enforcing child support payments. Some non-compliant parents have resorted to earning income under other people’s names or deliberately concealing their properties, including virtual assets, to evade their child support obligations.Against this backdrop, the recent partnership between the CSA and the KCB is a strategic move to enhance the enforcement of child support payments. This collaboration will grant the CSA access to KCB’s virtual asset management system. With this access, the CSA will be able to efficiently search for and seize the cryptocurrency holdings of non-compliant parents.Jeon Joo-won, the head of the CSA, underlined the significance of the agency’s collaboration with the KCB. She pointed out that utilizing KCB’s financial transaction data will improve the CSA’s enforcement of child support payments. Jeon also emphasized that the mutual support between the two agencies will serve as a foundation for promoting social values, highlighting the broader societal impact of their combined efforts to ensure responsible child support compliance.
