Most central banks now considering CBDCs

A survey by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has found that 94% of central banks have explored a central bank digital currency (CBDC), according to CoinDesk. These banks have indicated they would probably issue a wholesale CBDC for institutions before a retail one. Among the 86 participating banks, 94% have stated they are considering a digital version of their national currencies, an increase from 90% of 81 respondents in the 2021 BIS survey.
