SlowMist: "223 hacks so far this year... $1.43B in losses”As of June 30, 2024, the global cryptocurrency market cap has surged to approximately $2.34 trillion, reported blockchain security firm SlowMist. However, the year has also seen a spike in security challenges, with 223 major incidents resulting in $1.43 billion in losses, a 55% increase from 2023. The most affected networks were Ethereum and Arbitrum. Regulatory efforts have ramped up globally, with increased actions in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the U.S., Europe and the Middle East focusing on financial stability and anti-money laundering measures. In response to security breaches, Tether and Circle froze assets in 374 and 28 ETH addresses respectively, securing about $24.39 million in potentially compromised funds.
