Web3 losses reach $688.1M in Q2 2024, up 37%: Certik Report

The latest Web3 report from blockchain security firm Certik, reported by Watcher Guru, shows that $688.1 million was lost in 184 incidents during Q2 2024. This represents a 37% increase in losses compared to Q1 2024. Phishing attacks were the most damaging, accounting for $433.7 million in losses across 67 incidents. Private key exploits were also significant, leading to losses of $170 million in 16 major incidents. One of the most notable individual cases was a security breach at DMM Bitcoin exchange, resulting in a loss of $304.7 million.
