Bitcoin's dominance reached 58.25% at 01:10 UTC on Aug. 5, the highest level since April 2021, according to TradingView data. Tony Sycamore, an analyst at IG Markets, told Cointelegraph about crypto's plummet, noting that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are positioned at the high-risk end of the asset spectrum. He explained that the increase in Bitcoin's dominance reflects concerns about a potential recession, fears of a hard economic landing and heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, alongside an increased U.S. military presence in the region. Sycamore mentioned that a potential liquidation from crypto trading firm Jump Crypto is also causing selling pressure.
