Crypto.com user receives three-year sentence for misappropriating funds mistakenly sent by exchange

Jatinder Singh, who accidentally received AUD 10.5 million ($6.8 million) from crypto exchange Crypto.com, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Victoria County Court in Australia for theft of AUD 4 million, according to Decrypt. The clerical error occurred in 2021 when Crypto.com mistakenly transferred the funds to Singh, who then moved AUD 4 million to a friend's account and spent the money on real estate and luxury goods in Melbourne.
