Cryptocurrency analyst Michaƫl van de Poppe has expressed skepticism about the theory that Bitcoin (BTC) will bottom out in October of this year. He stated on X that the most overextended view in the market currently is the scenario where BTC forms a bear flag and then hits a bottom in October. According to him, when many people anticipate the same outcome, it becomes less likely to materialize.
"The current price base BTC is forming is very strong, and the current market environment is completely different from the 2022 bear market," he added. "I don't see a repeat of the same outcome as in the past."
Van de Poppe cited several bullish factors for BTC, including:
- The Nasdaq reaching an all-time high
- This week's vote on the CLARITY Act
- A potential announcement from the U.S. White House regarding a strategic Bitcoin reserve
- The issue of the next Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair

The altcoin market is building momentum for a rally, according to CryptoQuant. The analytics firm cited trading volume data on centralized exchanges (CEX), stating that a recent surge in short-term altcoin volume relative to its long-term average is a signal of capital rotating from major coins into small and mid-cap altcoins.

On-chain analyst Maartunn noted on X that while new USDT issuance has been quiet in recent days, Bitcoin's rally has continued. He added that this differs from the rally over the past two weeks, which was supported by large-scale USDT minting from Tether.
Commenting on this, The Crypto Basic observed that from late 2024 through most of 2025, sharp price increases tended to coincide with surges in USDT issuance. The outlet suggested that these spikes, often occurring just before or during Bitcoin price climbs, indicated that new liquidity was fueling the gains. However, the current situation is different, and a sustained bull market without new stablecoin inflows could point to a stronger, more durable trend.

He noted that SOL is maintaining relative strength against Ethereum (ETH) and Hyperliquid (HYPE) and expects it to be the first to break upwards from its three-month trading range. Wang added that if SOL decisively breaks the $96 level, its next major resistance would be around $120, implying a potential upside of about 25% from its current price. He said he would bet on SOL's breakout as long as Bitcoin does not fall below the $80,000 mark. According to CoinMarketCap, SOL is currently trading at $95, up 0.96%.

Iran is demanding sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz as part of its latest response to a U.S. proposal to end the war, CNN reported, citing Iranian state media. The strait is located between Iran and Oman at a point where their Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) intersect. Its narrowness provides limited room for ships to maneuver and insufficient warning time to evade threats, creating a geographically advantageous position for potential Iranian attacks on vessels. According to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), coastal nations hold sovereign rights for exploring, exploiting, conserving, and managing marine resources within their EEZ. However, the convention also guarantees the right of innocent passage for ships of all nations through territorial waters. While it stipulates that coastal states must not impede the normal passage of foreign vessels, it does permit them to take necessary measures to prevent non-innocent passage under certain circumstances.
