Former U.S. federal prosecutor James K. Filan reported on X that information from the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) shows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed an appeal in the Ripple (XRP) case, under case number 24-2648. This follows a landmark ruling by the District Court of New York in July 2023, which determined that XRP tokens sold in the secondary market do not qualify as securities. According to The Crypto Basic, Ripple remains confident in its defense. CEO Brad Garlinghouse and CLO Stuart Alderoty have expressed optimism that Ripple will ultimately prevail, benefiting the XRP community and the broader crypto industry.
