Cryptocurrency analyst Michaël van de Poppe said Bitcoin’s ability to hold $80,000 will be a key factor in determining its next price direction.
In a post on X, van de Poppe said BTC staged a relatively strong rebound after briefly breaking below its recent low, but needs to move above its previous high of $87,000 to maintain its uptrend. If BTC fails to set a new high, it could retest its recent low and fall below $75,000, putting the current uptrend at risk, van de Poppe said. On the other hand, if BTC forms a higher low and holds support at $80,000, the correction could end and the asset could attempt a further advance. Van de Poppe added this week’s price action will be an important inflection point for BTC’s next directional move.

South Korea’s presidential office has decided to delay taxation on cryptocurrency income, which had been scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1 next year, according to the Seoul Economic Daily.
A presidential office official said today the issue had been discussed in the direction of postponing implementation. The government had originally planned to begin taxing virtual asset income through a 2020 revision to the income tax law, but the measure has already been delayed three times.
Under the current schedule, the tax would take effect on Jan. 1. The presidential office decided on another delay while citing insufficient preparations for taxation and public sentiment among younger people. The office was also said to have considered that the U.S. will join the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, or CARF, from 2029.
CARF is a system under which tax authorities in countries around the world collect users’ residency and transaction information from crypto asset service providers and exchange that data with one another. The delay in U.S. participation could raise concerns that taxation would be concentrated only on users of South Korean exchanges because of the size of the domestic trading market.
Within the ruling Democratic Party as well, a revision bill has already been proposed to begin crypto taxation in 2029. The People Power Party is also calling for a delay, and the law is expected to be revised during tax bill reviews in November.

According to CoinGlass data, the Coinbase BTC premium index has remained negative for 31 straight days and was last recorded at -0.1353%.
The index measures the BTC price gap between U.S.-based Coinbase and global exchange Binance. A sustained negative reading is generally interpreted as relatively weaker buying interest in the U.S. market or stronger selling pressure. The index had previously ended a 98-day negative streak on Aug. 25, when it rose to 0.0052%. Still, the premium index alone cannot determine whether U.S. institutional investors are pulling money out of the market.

BNB Chain’s tokenized stock trading volume reached $25.6 billion in the third quarter, up about 11-fold from $2.4 billion in the previous quarter, according to Bitcoin.com.
The figure was well above Robinhood Chain’s $10.2 billion and Solana’s $6.4 billion. Bitcoin.com said the increase was driven by bStocks, a tokenized stock platform launched in June. QQQB, a tokenized product tied to the Invesco QQQ ETF tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index, accounted for about 80% of bStocks volume.
Tokenized stock supply on BNB Chain also expanded. Supply stood at $1.13 billion at the end of the third quarter, about double from $560 million at the end of the previous quarter, representing about 39% of total tokenized stock supply across blockchains. The number of tokenized stock holders was estimated at about 1.8 million.

Developer Shaw, who has about 163,000 followers on X, claimed a critical security vulnerability was found in the mainnet program of daos.fun, a Solana-based platform for launching investment funds.
Shaw said Shaw reverse-engineered daos.fun’s previously private program, reconstructed code that runs identically to the original, and published it on GitHub. According to materials Shaw released, the reconstructed program produced the same hash as the original binary Shaw obtained, and the vulnerability was identified during a security review. No case of the flaw being exploited or any current impact on user assets has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, daos.fun has suspended platform maintenance and the creation of new DAOs and tokens, while existing tokens remain available for trading. The code Shaw published is also known not to include a fix for the vulnerability.

The attacker behind Bitget’s September hack transferred about $19.48 million in cryptocurrency across 52 transactions between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24, with most of the funds sent to newly created wallets with no prior transaction history, Finbold reported, citing blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence.
BTC accounted for $19.33 million of the transfers. Since Oct. 15, wallets linked to the hacker have moved a total of $78.01 million to new addresses. Still, it remains unclear whether the funds were actually being laundered, as there has been no confirmed sign that the recently moved assets flowed into exchanges or mixing services.
Wallets tied to the hacker that Arkham is currently tracking still hold about $242.54 million in cryptocurrency, including 2,960.01 BTC worth about $241.99 million. Bitget previously suffered about $388 million in losses from the hack on Sept. 24.

Jeff Yan, founder of decentralized perpetual futures trading platform Hyperliquid (HYPE), said U.S. crypto regulation should target the companies that actually operate trading services rather than blockchains themselves. Yan said establishing a framework that places compliance obligations on trading service operators could open a path for U.S. users to legally access Hyperliquid.

Bitcoin Magazine said on X that BTC’s realized cap is rising, which it viewed as a sign that new money is entering the market. The outlet added that, historically, gains in realized cap have signaled the start of a new bull market.
Realized cap is a market capitalization metric based on the price at which each BTC last moved on-chain, rather than the current market price. A rise in the indicator means Bitcoin’s on-chain valuation is increasing, and it is used as one gauge of fresh capital inflows.

Solayer’s payment service Solayer Pay has introduced direct stablecoin deposits across five blockchains: Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, and Base.
Users can top up Solayer Pay balances with supported stablecoins such as USDC and USDT held on those networks without a separate bridging process, according to Solayer. The topped-up balance can be used through virtual and physical payment cards in supported regions, while mobile wallet integration and person-to-person transfers are also available. Solayer said Solayer Pay card users now exceed 45,000.

Apex Group founder and CEO Peter Hughes said a delay in advancing the U.S. CLARITY Act could push digital asset companies toward Asia, the Middle East and Bermuda, according to a CoinDesk interview.
Hughes said companies would look for solutions in other regions if U.S. regulatory uncertainty persists, adding that jurisdictions moving faster to establish regulatory frameworks could benefit. He also said the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, or MiCA, remains slow to evolve and overly restrictive, making Europe less likely to benefit from the U.S. legislative delay.
The U.S. Senate previously failed to pass the CLARITY Act in September after the bill did not secure the 60 votes needed for consideration. Separately, Hughes said tokenized money market funds could accelerate blockchain adoption by institutional investors. He said tokenized MMFs can offer higher yields than traditional bank deposits and can also be used to raise funds against held assets as collateral.

Ethereum co-founder and Consensys founder Joseph Lubin said in a CNBC interview that AI and cryptocurrencies will ultimately converge into a single system.
Lubin said AI can provide creativity and expertise but cannot generate trust on its own, adding that blockchain can help address that limitation. He said blockchain could be used in workflows where one AI agent assigns tasks to another, verifies the results, and then makes payment. Lubin added that Ethereum’s decentralized protocols provide the trust foundation needed for such transactions and could evolve into core payment infrastructure for transactions between AI agents.
On U.S. crypto regulation, Lubin said congressional legislation is being delayed, but added that he expects regulatory clarity to emerge through the SEC and the CFTC.

Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, said it is working with 15 Bitcoin mining-related companies including Bitmain, Bitdeer, Canaan and F2Pool to build MDK, an open-source Mining Development Kit.
Tether said MDK is designed to connect mining rigs and mining pool management systems from different manufacturers through a common interface, allowing multiple mining environments to be managed through a single program. Using MDK, the company said, developers can build systems that use AI to monitor mining equipment, detect problems and optimize performance, automating operational tasks. Participating companies plan to develop and maintain functions that let existing equipment integrate with MDK without requiring hardware replacement.

A wallet tied to crypto investment firm Abraxas Capital has recorded $193 million in cumulative profit and loss from trading perpetual futures on Hyperliquid, setting a record high. The wallet now has the highest cumulative perpetual futures profit on Hyperliquid.
Still, the position is hedged with spot holdings, so the full $193 million should not be viewed as net realized profit. The wallet currently holds about $207.44 million in USDC, with cumulative trading volume of $5.43 billion and open interest of $725 million.

Aave lowered the utilization threshold at which USDT borrowing rates begin rising sharply to 92% from 94% in the Ethereum core market. The utilization rate refers to the share of deposited USDT that has been lent out.
Under the change, borrowing costs will climb faster once 92% of total deposits are loaned out. The structure can curb excessive borrowing demand by raising loan costs, while also encouraging additional inflows through higher deposit yields.
At a 94% utilization rate, the annual borrowing rate rises to 7% from 4.5%, and it climbs to 14.5% if utilization reaches 100%. According to risk management firm LlamaRisk, lowering the threshold to 92% from 94% would leave about 57.84 million more USDT unlent, based on total deposits of about 2.8922 billion USDT.
