The entities behind Plasma’s XPL decline appear to be the same ones involved in past moves in FARTCOIN, according to a BlockBeats analysis. XPL rose above about $0.12 in late September, but fell below $0.07 as November began. The token also dropped 12% on Nov. 1.
BlockBeats said the entities that sold heavily on Nov. 1 appear to be the same ones that led declines in XPL and FARTCOIN in April. According to the analysis, they built long positions in advance and then profited by triggering long liquidations. XPL surged 42% in April before plunging more than 40%, while FARTCOIN showed a similar pattern. That led to forced liquidations worth tens of millions of dollars across exchanges at the time, BlockBeats said.

Bitcoin’s active address count has fallen 43% over about two years, while transfer volume is down just 5.4%, according to an analysis by on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr.
Adler said the 30-day moving average of Bitcoin active addresses stood at 629,000 as of Nov. 1, down 43% from a peak of 1.1 million in December 2024. The figure also fell 1% over the past week. Adler noted that in 2018, active addresses dropped 50% in three months, whereas the current decline of a similar scale has unfolded gradually over about two years. The current active address count is around 10% below the annual average of 702,000, and a recovery to that level would signal network activity has begun to move above the average seen over the past year. By contrast, the 30-day moving average of Bitcoin’s daily transfer volume slipped only 5.4% to 819,000 BTC from 865,000 BTC on Dec. 10, 2024. Although it fell 2.5% over the past week, it still remains 5.5% above the annual average of 776,000 BTC, suggesting the drop in actual Bitcoin transfer volume has been limited compared with the decline in active addresses.

South Korea’s Financial Services Commission on Nov. 2 urgently called in domestic crypto exchanges and urged them to build additional reserves following the Binance hacking incident, SBS News reported. The FSC focused its review on access controls for local virtual asset service providers’ computer systems, as well as approval and signing procedures for wallet withdrawals, including hot wallets. It also instructed exchanges to raise the share of assets held in cold wallets not connected to the internet to help prevent breaches similar to the Binance case. Under the current Virtual Asset User Protection Act, virtual asset service providers must keep at least 80% of customer-deposited assets in cold wallets, although the ratio varies by company.
