Global ETF assets surge by 32% in 2024, Bitcoin ETFs account for 2%

Global ETF assets grew by $3.7 trillion in 2024, marking a 32% increase, according to Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas on X. This growth surpasses long-term projections of a 10% annual growth rate needed to reach $35 trillion by 2035. While market performance contributed 60% of the growth, 40% came from new capital flows. Bitcoin ETFs accounted for 2% of the total growth, highlighting their emergence as a new category despite their small share in the expansive asset class universe.
