Woman arrested in South Korea for stealing $480K in crypto using stolen phone

A woman in her 40s was arrested in South Korea for illegally acquiring cryptocurrency worth about 700 million won (roughly $480,736) with a stolen phone, according to News1. Jeju Dongbu Police Station announced on Jan. 16 that she was detained on charges of fraud and theft under the Act of Aggravated Punishment for Specific Economic Crimes. The woman allegedly stole the phone of a man on Jan. 7 after meeting him in a group chat on social media. Subsequently, she transferred the cryptocurrency to her own account using his personal information she had obtained.
