Safe, an on-chain digital asset custody protocol, announced on X the results of its investigation into the Bybit hack. The project outlined that based on forensic analysis, the hack was caused by the compromise of a Safe{Wallet} developer device. The Lazarus Group is well known for utilizing sophisticated attacks and zero-day exploits. No vulnerabilities were found in the Safe smart contract, front-end and service source code. After this hack, the Safe{Wallet} team completely rebuilt the infrastructure and blocked the attack path. The project is currently carrying out a phased service restoration on the Ethereum mainnet.
