Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi said on X that Kraken will continue listing Monero (XMR) and supporting withdrawals.
Sethi said Kraken had sent emails to customers who bought Monero and withdrew it, asking about their employer, source of funds and planned use of the coins, but the exchange has withdrawn that request. He said the request was not required under relevant regulations and that treating a younger customer as a risk signal simply because the customer held a large amount of funds was a mistake. He added that verifying the source of funds is legitimate for compliance with AML rules, but asking how withdrawn coins will be used is inappropriate.

A Chinese man in his 40s has been extradited from the Netherlands to the U.S. over allegations that he took part in a global cryptocurrency investment fraud targeting 174 U.S. citizens, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The DOJ said the suspect was tied to a Cambodia-based fraud ring that approached victims through social media, phone calls, text messages and dating apps, then steered them to fake websites designed to mimic legitimate exchanges. Investigators found the group laundered victim funds through U.S. shell companies and offshore bank accounts, transferring more than $36.9 million into a single account at Deltec Bank in the Bahamas before converting the money into USDT and moving it to wallets in Cambodia.
Eight co-conspirators have already pleaded guilty, and the defendant remains in custody ahead of an arraignment on Nov. 30. If convicted, the suspect could face up to 20 years in federal prison. The case remains at the charging stage, and the presumption of innocence applies.

CME Group CEO Terry Duffy said Hyperliquid could face obstacles entering the U.S. market over know-your-customer requirements and broader compliance issues. Speaking on Bloomberg’s podcast 'Odd Lots,' Duffy said a platform cannot shift regulatory responsibility to users or distributors simply by arguing it only provides infrastructure, and warned the combination of high leverage and automatic liquidation without identity checks could trigger cascading liquidations and broader market disruption. Hyperliquid currently does not require identity verification and is not registered with U.S. regulators, meaning compliance with relevant rules would be needed to enter the U.S. market.

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service is pursuing an overhaul of its tax voluntary disclosure program that would cover cryptocurrency and aim to lower penalties and shorten processing times, Cointelegraph reported. Jarod Koopman, head of the IRS Criminal Investigation division, said the agency aims to introduce the revamp before December and process cases within 120 days after taxpayers complete required filings. The IRS plans to use its existing voluntary disclosure program rather than create a separate crypto-specific process, while installment payments and negotiated penalty relief are also under review. The agency did not disclose the specific size of any penalty cuts, and the program is intended for taxpayers who could face criminal punishment for willful tax violations. Separately, Congress is also discussing a distinct cryptocurrency voluntary disclosure option for correcting non-willful filing errors, according to the report.

An Argentine federal court has dismissed a criminal case tied to the LIBRA memecoin against President Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei, U.S. businessman Hayden Davis, and eight others, Yahoo News reported. The court found it was difficult to prove fraud based solely on Milei’s promotion of the token and its sharp price rise and fall, and said there was no evidence to support allegations that Karina Milei had received improper payments.
LIBRA plunged after President Milei promoted it on X in February 2025, and blockchain analysts found about $99 million was withdrawn from eight wallets tied to the token. Around 40,000 investors suffered total losses of $110 million, according to the report.

The U.S. Department of Defense has banned U.S. service members and Defense Department employees from trading on prediction markets using nonpublic information, according to NewsBitcoin.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned military-operation prediction trading exposes sensitive information to adversaries and could put troops at risk. The ban covers both classified and unclassified information and specifically names prediction market platforms Polymarket and Kalshi, along with existing betting services and other financial platforms.
Violations could lead to administrative penalties, disciplinary proceedings or criminal prosecution under military regulations and related federal law. The guidance comes months after a soldier was indicted earlier this year for making $400,000 on Polymarket using nonpublic information.
