Fed Chair Powell: No rush to cut interest rates
March 07, 2025, 5:42 PM
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stated that the Fed will wait for more clarity on the Trump administration's policy changes before considering interest rate cuts. He cited uncertainty in trade, immigration, fiscal policy and regulation. According to Odaily News, Powell noted that while the economy remains strong, consumer spending may slow, and businesses face rising uncertainty. His remarks come as stocks and bond yields decline following Trump’s tariff announcement and postponement on Mexico and Canada.
