Fox Business Reporter: SEC-Ripple lawsuit nearing final stage

March 12, 2025, 4:04 PM
Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett reported via X, citing two reliable sources, that the lawsuit between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple may be coming to an end soon. The reason for the current delay in the settlement is that Ripple's legal team is negotiating more favorable terms in connection with the district court ruling in August of last year. At that time, the judge imposed a $125 million fine on Ripple and permanently banned the sale of XRP to institutions. Ripple is arguing that since the SEC's current Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda has removed the existing cryptocurrency sanctions, why should Ripple still be punished? At this point, even the SEC seems unsure whether Ripple actually broke the law.
