White House crypto czar clarifies crypto sales were due to govt ethics rules

David Sacks, the crypto czar for the Trump administration, voiced his disappointment on X regarding how the media consistently casts cryptocurrency in a negative light. He explained that his recent disposal of crypto assets was mandated by government ethics regulations, not by personal choice, emphasizing that he "divested" rather than "dump[ed]" his holdings.
To illustrate his point, Sacks shared a screenshot of a media headline stating, "White House crypto czar David Sacks dumps Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana." According to an earlier CNBC report, Sacks had sold $200 million in cryptocurrencies and crypto-related investments before taking office.
