March 20, 2025, 6:43 PM
The push to switch to 24-hour trading systems by the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is a result of the cryptocurrency market's influence, according to a report published by CoinDesk. Giang Bui, head of U.S. equities & exchange-traded products, said that there is a lot of trading demand for U.S. stocks worldwide. With that, people want to trade stocks during their work hours. Furthermore, people are now used to trading cryptocurrencies 24 hours a day. Both the Nasdaq and NYSE are in the process of requesting approval from regulators to operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, 365 days a year. The Nasdaq recently announced that it has begun consultations with the authorities.
