Coinbase seeks to restart FOIA lawsuit over FDIC transparency

March 31, 2025, 5:44 PM
Coinbase has filed a motion in D.C. District Court requesting the resumption of its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). According to former Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett on X, the exchange claims the FDIC is still withholding key documents and not cooperating with its information requests. The case had been paused in February after President Trump appointed Travis Hill as Acting FDIC Chair, with hopes of resolving the matter outside court. Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said while cooperation had improved under new leadership, transparency remains insufficient. The FDIC is expected to respond within two weeks.
