BitMEX co-founder recommends accumulating gold and BTC

Arthur Hayes, co-founder of crypto exchange BitMEX, noted via X that the outstanding U.S. Treasury debt has increased by 85-fold since the gold standard was abolished in 1971. "The US had to create the credit dollars necessary for the growth in the world economy," Hayes underscored. But with the election of Donald Trump, who campaigned on a promise to reduce the trade deficit, the U.S. may not continue to print unlimited amounts of dollars. If that happens, the BitMEX co-founder expects investors who are running out of dollars to sell their U.S. bonds and stocks. Hayes reckons even if Trump eases his tariff policies, countries that have already been subject to his whims will not be able to take the same risk (holding dollars) as before. While the dollar will remain the reserve currency, countries will be compelled to increase their gold reserves for international payments. "For those who want to adapt to a return to pre-1971 trade relationships, buy gold, gold miners and $BTC," said Hayes.
