Crypto firms donated to Trump’s $239M inauguration fund ahead of SEC case closures

April 21, 2025, 5:26 PM
Uniswap CEO Hayden Adams, Solana Labs and Consensys were among the cryptocurrency contributors to President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration fund, according to newly released FEC filings. Donations included $245,000 from Adams, $1 million from Solana Labs and $100,000 from Consensys, made in January 2025. The Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee reported over $239 million in total contributions, also including major corporations like Meta, Apple, McDonald’s and OpenAI. The SEC, under Trump appointee Mark Uyeda, has since dropped investigations or enforcement actions against several crypto firms, including Uniswap and Consensys, shortly after the donations. According to Cointelegraph, the donations and recent regulatory pullbacks have raised questions about potential conflicts of interest, particularly amid Trump's involvement with memecoins and the launch of a stablecoin by his family’s firm, World Liberty Financial, as Congress considers stablecoin legislation.
