Crypto ETF stance sparks debate between South Korean presidential contenders

Han Dong-hoon, a presidential primary candidate of South Korea’s People Power Party (PPP), clashed with fellow contender Hong Joon-pyo over Hong’s previous support for the introduction of spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in his book, according to Yonhap Infomax. During the second round of the PPP primary debates on April 25, Han questioned Hong about the reasoning behind the endorsement. Hong admitted he had written the passage without fully understanding the issue, saying that introducing spot cryptocurrency ETFs seemed like a good idea at the time.
