Binance founder Changpeng Zhao pushed back against interpretations that his mention of holding SpaceX (SPCX) shares was intended to pressure Elon Musk. In a post on X, Zhao said he had never said he would sell SpaceX shares and had raised the holding only to explain, amid earlier comparisons with FTX and questions about Binance’s funding position, that he also holds assets outside crypto. Zhao added that threatening someone runs against his principles and said such a threat would not be credible anyway because the shares held are only a tiny portion of SpaceX as a whole. Zhao also said SpaceX remains one of the best stocks to hold for the long term and stressed there was no need to frame the matter as a conflict or drive a wedge between the two sides.

Crypto platform Flap said it changed its official service domain to flap.cool from flap.sh in response to a recent DNS attack. In a post on X, Flap said it is investigating whether the attack was linked to its domain service provider and that the exact cause has not yet been confirmed. Flap advised users to avoid accessing the old domain, flap.sh, as well as connecting wallets or signing transactions on that site, and to use the new domain, flap.cool, directly. Flap added that visits to the old domain are automatically redirected to the new site, but direct access through the new address is safer.

Pro-crypto Republican U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis said the CLARITY Act could have enabled a more effective response to the Binance hack. Lummis said the bill would have classified Binance as a regulated digital asset service provider while preserving the force of existing financial and sanctions laws, which would have helped authorities respond more quickly. The CLARITY Act passed the House but remains pending after failing a procedural vote in the Senate on Sept. 15 by a 49-50 margin.

A proposal submitted in the Zcash (ZEC) community would redirect the 8% block subsidy currently allocated to the existing Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) program toward new development and a legal defense fund. The proposal says the funds would be locked until the third halving, with specific uses to be determined later through a separate ZIP. It also calls for about 50,000 ZEC, or roughly 55% of ZCG’s holdings, to be moved to an unusable address. The proposers said ZCG’s assets are worth about $125 million after ZEC’s price rise, and annual new grant funding is more than seven times spending. The proposal remains at the draft stage, and no decision has been made on whether to adopt it.

More recently, 120 million TRX, worth about $38.78 million, was transferred and then further dispersed across multiple addresses.

About $1.07 billion worth of cryptocurrency flowed into 34 casinos in Cambodia’s Sihanoukville from Jan. 1 to Sept. 7 this year, according to blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs. TRM Labs said casino inflows have declined amid a crackdown by Cambodian authorities, but cryptocurrency cash-out activity through local casinos and money changers is still continuing.

Ethereum developer nicolashw has proposed an improvement that would let wallets permanently disable EIP-7702 delegation, The Defiant reported. EIP-7702 is a standard that allows externally owned accounts, or regular wallets, to use smart contract functionality, and the feature was said to have been abused in the recent Binance hack. The proposal would preserve wallet addresses as well as standard transfers and contract calls, while permanently blocking any future delegation of smart contract execution authority. However, it would not prevent asset theft if a private key is compromised. The draft was submitted on Oct. 30 and has not yet been assigned a formal EIP number. Actual adoption would require an Ethereum network upgrade.

Layer-1 blockchain project Iron Fish said on its official X account it will fully halt network support after an attack exploited a vulnerability in its blockchain. Iron Fish said it recently detected abnormal activity involving the wrapped token wIRON and the ChainPort bridge. An investigation found the cause was a flaw in Merkle tree implementation code written in early 2019. The attacker used the vulnerability to repeatedly reuse the same asset and then siphon funds out through the ChainPort bridge. Iron Fish added the code had undergone both internal and external security audits, but the vulnerability was not identified. The project said it plans to apply code fixing the vulnerability, publish an incident analysis report, archive its code repository, and end network support.

DRW founder Don Wilson questioned the practical value of bringing Hyperliquid’s HYPE to the U.S. market through the New York Stock Exchange, arguing that the benefits of trading onchain perpetual futures on a regulated exchange are unclear. In a post on X, Wilson said it was unclear what advantages onchain perpetual futures offer in a regulated venue. Wilson also questioned whether Hyperliquid’s real-time public disclosure of trades and positions, as well as a fee structure that can raise order-processing priority, aligns with core regulatory principles at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Wilson added that if liquidity cannot be integrated across U.S. and offshore trading venues, a traditional centralized order book could be more efficient.
