Individual Bitcoin miners remain far from recovering meaningful profitability even as major mining companies pivot to AI data center infrastructure in search of higher returns, CoinDesk reported.
Hosted mining platforms such as GoMining and SAZ Mining have recently expanded services that let retail investors rent or buy hashpower without installing equipment at home. In one example, a mining board developed by Jack Dorsey’s Block is selling for $4,187 per unit, with a $153 monthly maintenance fee and a 15% management fee. On-chain analysis showed that even assuming a BTC price of $83,000, annual net profit per board would be only about $633, meaning it would take more than six years just to recover the initial hardware cost.
With the network’s total hash rate holding near a peak at about 1.09 ZH/s, the payback period would lengthen further when the fifth halving arrives in about 18 months, reducing the block reward to 1.5625 BTC. Experts warned that even if large mining firms shift to AI, existing ASIC equipment is being resold into the market and continues to fuel competition in network difficulty, adding that investors should not be swayed by daily mining payouts and should instead closely examine steep depreciation and maintenance costs.

The spending push is being led by Fairshake, a super PAC backed by Coinbase and Ripple. Prices in the affected pools have since largely stabilized, the protocol added.

Nasdaq-listed Next Technology Holding (NXTT) has approved seeking authorization to fully sell or use as collateral its 5,833 Bitcoin holdings worth about $450 million, citing the Binance hot wallet hack and quantum computing risks, CoinDesk reported.
NXTT, a Japanese software company, said in a filing on Oct. 31 that its board delegated authority to the CEO to carry out phased Bitcoin sales and collateralized borrowing against the holdings to reduce asset risk and secure liquidity. The company identified structural security vulnerabilities at exchanges and the long-term threat of quantum computers breaking encryption as reasons for the planned disposal, while adding its own assets were not directly deposited with Binance.
NXTT bought 5,000 BTC in March 2025 through a share-and-warrant exchange at an average acquisition price of about $31,600, according to CoinDesk. The report added that the company’s current crypto holdings, valued at about $449 million, are more than 50 times its market capitalization of roughly $7.8 million.

Short-term Bitcoin holders sent more than 36,600 BTC to exchanges over the past 24 hours as BTC fell toward $76,000 and tested support, a sign the market may be nearing a bottom, according to on-chain analyst Darkfost.
Darkfost said exchange transfers from short-term holders whose positions had fallen into loss exceeded 36,600 BTC during the period. Inflows to Binance were also notable after the exchange faced negative fallout from a $6.3 billion hot wallet hack, with cumulative inflows over the past seven days reaching 45,400 BTC, the highest level in October. Darkfost said the sharp rise in loss-making BTC moving to exchanges suggests short-term investors are nearing their psychological limit in the recent volatile market.
Darkfost added that, historically, large-scale capitulation by short-term holders has signaled that a correction is approaching an extreme bottom zone, and said short-term momentum could rebound after distressed selling is absorbed.

Crypto trader Doctor Profit said BTC could fall to $67,000-$69,000 if it loses support at $76,000.
In an analysis posted on X, Doctor Profit said BTC recently fell below both the 50-day exponential moving average and simple moving average in the $80,000-$81,000 range amid a major hacking incident, but the broader bull-market price structure remains intact. Doctor Profit added that a break above $76,000 had been an important signal confirming the start of the bull market, so losing that level would deal a major blow to the uptrend. Even so, Doctor Profit said the latest decline appears to be a temporary digestion phase driven by large-scale forced liquidations and panic selling, and Doctor Profit remains confident the bull market will continue.
Doctor Profit added that Doctor Profit is maintaining a BTC long position with an average entry price of $80,400, along with a spot position bought at $60,000.

Suspicion is spreading on X that Binance’s $6.3 billion hack may have involved an insider, though no concrete evidence has been presented, Bitcoin.com reported.
Some traders questioned how the hacker was able to steal funds across 10 blockchains in about 20 minutes and argued an exchange insider may have been involved. The speculation intensified after Binance said it had recovered about 80% of the stolen assets, bought the remaining 20% on the market, and plans to release its proof-of-reserves, or PoR, results on Nov. 2. Some users said a reserve snapshot taken only after all stolen assets had been replenished would make it difficult to determine the actual scale of any funding shortfall at the time of the hack.
Meanwhile, blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs assessed that the attack was likely carried out by TraderTraitor, a North Korea-linked hacking group. Binance said it had identified an additional attack vector, but found no evidence that wallet private keys were compromised and maintained that customer assets were unaffected.

Web3 security data infrastructure provider GoPlus (GPS) said on Oct. 31 that the official websites of Flap and Kintsu were hit by a DNS hijacking attack that redirected traffic to malicious clone sites.
GoPlus said the domain registrar may have been compromised and that more than 10 domains, in addition to those of the two projects, were hijacked. Users who attempted to connect wallets on the clone sites were routed to malicious pages and prompted to sign transactions sending BNB to the attacker or approve ERC-20 token spending.
Both the Kintsu and Flap sites have been restored, and Flap's alternative domain is also available, while the cause of the DNS hijacking remains under investigation.

DefiLlama co-founder 0xngmi said Titan Builder generated about $24.7 million in fees over the same period, and the figure was so unusually high that the system initially treated it as a data error and excluded it from the tally. 0xngmi added that MEV-related trading activity surged as recent hacking-related market turmoil and investor fear created more arbitrage opportunities.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao pushed back against interpretations that his mention of holding SpaceX (SPCX) shares was intended to pressure Elon Musk. In a post on X, Zhao said he had never said he would sell SpaceX shares and had raised the holding only to explain, amid earlier comparisons with FTX and questions about Binance’s funding position, that he also holds assets outside crypto.
Zhao added that threatening someone runs against his principles and said such a threat would not be credible anyway because the shares held are only a tiny portion of SpaceX as a whole. Zhao also said SpaceX remains one of the best stocks to hold for the long term and stressed there was no need to frame the matter as a conflict or drive a wedge between the two sides.

Crypto platform Flap said it changed its official service domain to flap.cool from flap.sh in response to a recent DNS attack.
In a post on X, Flap said it is investigating whether the attack was linked to its domain service provider and that the exact cause has not yet been confirmed. Flap advised users to avoid accessing the old domain, flap.sh, as well as connecting wallets or signing transactions on that site, and to use the new domain, flap.cool, directly. Flap added that visits to the old domain are automatically redirected to the new site, but direct access through the new address is safer.
