A newly disclosed core PHP security vulnerability that could allow unauthenticated remote code execution on web servers is raising concern across the cryptocurrency industry, CoinGape reported. The flaw does not directly affect smart contracts or cold wallets, but it could impact web-based environments such as dApp front ends and exchange dashboards.
Some projects, including BNB Chain and Trust Wallet (TWT), announced they do not use PHP in their technology stacks. U.S.-based exchange Kraken also said it is secure after moving its core backend to Rust.

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon called for a delay to virtual asset taxation and a second phase of legislation, arguing that taxing only virtual assets after the abolition of the financial investment income tax on gains from stocks and bonds would seriously undermine fairness, according to Kukinews.
In a Facebook post, Han said the current tax plan could unfairly burden investors because it lacks measures to offset losses and remains exposed to tax avoidance through gifts. Han added that the next step should be to use second-phase virtual asset legislation to clearly define coin categories and the nature of related income, while first putting in place an environment that can properly protect investors.

U.Today reported that U.S. market analyst Jesse Eckel said advances in artificial gold production technology could make Bitcoin’s scarcity a stronger competitive advantage than gold’s.
In a post on X, Eckel said artificially produced gold could eventually become cheaper, much like synthetic diamonds, and technological progress may weaken gold’s scarcity over the long term. Eckel added that San Francisco-based startup Marathon Fusion has made technical progress in converting mercury into gold. As the technology develops, gold supply could increase, while Bitcoin’s total supply remains mathematically capped, which Eckel said could strengthen Bitcoin’s scarcity advantage over the long run.

Financial institutions are sharply increasing investment in cryptocurrency custody, viewing it as a core operational layer rather than simple safekeeping, according to a joint report from Ripple and Boston Consulting Group. The report said more than 30% of crypto assets, excluding exchange-held assets, are now being custodied through institutional models, and that share is continuing to rise amid stronger demand.
Ripple and BCG attributed the trend to regulatory developments including MiCA and the GENIUS Act. BCG said local banks could improve revenue by as much as $100 million if they decide to enter custody, while firms including Morgan Stanley, Citi and BNY are also strengthening their in-house custody capabilities.

On-chain analyst Murphy said on X that $83,000 is a key inflection point that could determine BTC’s next price direction.
According to a Glassnode chart Murphy shared, around 921,000 BTC had their last on-chain movement near the $83,000 level as of today. Murphy said when BTC fell below $83,000 on Oct. 8, the $79,000-$82,000 range had previously seen relatively light trading volume, so Murphy expected BTC to spend time in that band as trading activity increased. Murphy added that on-chain movement later picked up in that range, leading to a concentration of supply there. With BTC no longer falling further, Murphy said a renewed rise is possible, and a new trend will likely form depending on whether buying or selling pressure gains the upper hand at $83,000.
Murphy added that the supply clustered near $83,000 includes 550,000 BTC generated during a past Coinbase wallet reorganization, and Murphy estimated only 100,000 to 200,000 BTC of that amount remains.

Dragonfly Capital Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi said on X that on-chain hacking has recently surged, with losses concentrated mainly at smaller protocols with weaker security.
Qureshi said cryptocurrency became a target for attacks earlier than other internet services because it is one of the easiest sectors for cybercriminals to extract financial gains from. Large protocols are strengthening security with AI tools, while smaller protocols are coming under repeated attack, Qureshi added. He said the number of hacks has jumped sharply, but total losses this year are rising at a pace similar to last year, meaning individual incidents are getting smaller as attacks concentrate on small protocols with poor security management. Qureshi also added he believes the same pattern is likely playing out across the broader web.
According to a chart Qureshi shared, the annualized number of monthly hacking incidents was mostly around 100 to 200 last year, but rose to about 560 in August this year. The median loss per hack fell about 49% to $410,000 so far this year from $811,000 last year.

He also said he is focused on a future in which AI software moves funds directly.

Lee said the government bill was in last-minute consultations and would be moved forward as quickly as possible for discussion. On taxation, Lee said Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hyeong-il had already addressed the issue and added that authorities are gathering views amid a range of opinions, according to Edaily.

AEON announced the launch of Agentic Checkout V2, a system that lets AI agents search for, purchase and pay for goods, while adding travel booking through crypto-based travel platform Travala.
The company said users can delegate the entire travel reservation process to an AI agent. In V2, payment funds can be managed separately through a dedicated agent wallet, which is isolated from a user’s primary wallet and keeps a transparent record of transactions.
AEON said the payment execution function has expanded beyond basic e-commerce purchases into service areas involving more complex intent, such as travel. Amid moves by major big tech companies including Stripe and Meta to build payment environments for AI agents, AEON emphasized that it is broadening execution into real-world service bookings such as travel based on its AI card and on-chain wallet infrastructure.
