American crypto exchange Coinbase disclosed that personal data of 69,461 individuals was compromised in a December 2024 breach, according to a filing with the Maine Attorney General’s Office cited by The Block. The incident, linked to a $20 million ransom demand, affected less than 1% of users and exposed Know Your Customer (KYC) data such as names, addresses and emails. The exchange estimates potential costs between $180 million and $400 million for remediation and reimbursements.
