Family offices shift toward private equity and crypto

BNY Wealth’s 2025 report shows family offices are shifting from stocks to private equity and crypto. Among firms with over $1 billion in assets, two-thirds plan to raise private equity exposure, while 74% are investing in or exploring crypto. Public equity allocations dropped to 19% from 28% last year, according to Bloomberg. Interest in real estate and AI is also rising.
