The filing shows Creative Planning expanded its holdings of Bitcoin-related ETFs, including Grayscale’s GBTC and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB, by 43% from the previous quarter, while also more than doubling its Strategy (MSTR) position to 76,807 shares. Traditional assets still account for the vast majority of the overall portfolio, including the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) at 10.8% and the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND) at 5.5%, indicating the firm’s absolute crypto exposure remains limited.

Political uncertainty around the U.S. midterm election is fueling concern in the crypto market, with bearish expectations spreading, according to on-chain analytics firm Santiment. Santiment said expectations that Democrats will secure control of the House, while the Senate remains closely contested, are adding to the weak outlook for cryptocurrencies. Traders view continued Republican control of Congress as more favorable for crypto regulation and stablecoin policy, it added.
With Bitcoin trading around $77,500, Santiment said the likelihood of a technical rebound could increase if support holds in the $76,500-$77,000 range. A recovery above $79,000 could further strengthen that signal.

Bloomberg Intelligence macro strategist Mike McGlone, who has recently taken a negative view on Bitcoin, said on X that the Faustian bargain that helped President Donald Trump win re-election is unraveling, and a Democratic victory could further worsen conditions in the cryptocurrency market.

The biggest market victims of the Binance hack were not the account holders who lost assets, but high-leverage traders, DayTrading.com CEO Tobias Robinson said. After the incident was announced, Bitcoin fell 5% within hours, triggering $1.68 billion in liquidations across exchanges, including $1.43 billion in long positions. In one hour alone, $600 million was wiped out and more than 250,000 investors were liquidated.
Robinson said 20x leverage can wipe out an investor’s entire principal on just a 5% decline, warning that forced liquidations can set off a chain reaction that drives prices down further. Robinson also advised traders to use isolated margin and manage positions for worst-case scenarios, noting that slippage often disrupts stop-loss orders during sharp selloffs.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said in an interview with CoinDesk that competitive dynamics in the crypto industry did not matter during the crisis, and that rival platforms, including some exchanges that had previously clashed with Binance, also offered support.
After roughly $6.3 billion in unauthorized withdrawals occurred at Binance, Coinbase blocked transactions tied to the relevant addresses. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou and OKX founder Xu Mingxing said the industry should act together under security standards, while Tether and Circle also froze assets linked to the hack.

HitBTC has again been identified as a key transit point in tracing the laundering of stolen cryptocurrency funds, amid criticism over the abuse of so-called nested services.
According to analysis by Salus, hackers have been dispersing funds through automated scripts and the peeling-chain technique, which breaks holdings into smaller amounts. In that process, illicit funds flowing into HitBTC reached about $22 million through July this year. Salus also said that in the earlier $1.4 billion Bybit hack, $3.68 million in funds linked to North Korea flowed into the platform, but HitBTC did not respond to requests for investigative cooperation.
Security experts said hackers are exploiting nested services, meaning smaller exchanges and OTC desks that tap the API liquidity of larger exchanges. Under that structure, only the parent platform’s address appears on-chain, while the ultimate sender behind the intermediary network remains hidden, blocking traceability.

Markus Thielen, founder of 10x Research, said Bitcoin could reach $90,000 by the end of this year, Cointelegraph reported.
Thielen said investors have been scrambling to identify the next price dip and entry point, but many appear to have missed that opportunity and now want to buy back in. He added that whether Bitcoin can reclaim $90,000 depends on Federal Reserve rates, and he expects another rate hike before December. After that, he said, a more cautious approach to any additional hikes could help support a Bitcoin rally. Thielen also added that it remains unclear whether institutional demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs can be sustained.

Crypto custody firm BitGo has officially added Stacks-based Bitcoin staking for eligible institutional clients.
Through the integration, institutional investors can earn staking rewards on native BTC without wrapping Bitcoin or moving it to an external bridge, while keeping assets in BitGo’s Qualified Custody. Participating institutions must pair and lock up STX equal to about 5% of their Bitcoin deposit position, and the structure carries a bond term of about six months. The staking rewards are paid from a BTC pool submitted by miners through the Proof of Transfer, or PoX, consensus mechanism during the Stacks block production process.

OpenUSD, a consortium stablecoin led by Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase and Shopify, has finalized a low-cost fee structure for payment transaction volume, with management fees capped at $0.01 per transaction, CoinDesk reported, citing internal documents it obtained.
The operating entity, Open Standard, plans to charge a 0.1-basis-point fee on payment amounts, while applying a $0.01 cap to transactions of $1,000 or more. Under that structure, even a $1 million transfer would incur a fee of just one cent, bringing foreign-exchange and remittance costs close to zero.
The documents also show OUSD aims to differentiate its revenue model from USDT and USDC. Rather than monopolizing reserve interest, OUSD plans to deduct only minimal operating fees and distribute reserve-interest income directly to ecosystem partners. It has also created an equity accrual pool, with a minimum participation threshold of $50 million and a 5% cap per company, allocating project equity based on partners’ asset holdings and payment distribution volume.

Binance co-founder He Yi said Binance detected and blocked 57 suspected North Korea-linked cyber threats in 2026.
He said Binance’s security team preempted 57 cases over the course of the year and described them as evidence of a persistent threat from state-backed hacking groups targeting the crypto industry. The attack methods included fake job interviews, malware disguised as popular developer tools, tampered software packages and browser extensions, fake video conferencing applications, and social engineering campaigns designed to steal credentials or distribute remote-control malware. He added that Binance stopped many of the attacks in advance, but said the cost of a single defensive failure was too severe and that the incident should never have happened.
