South Korea’s AhnLab Security intelligence Center, or ASEC, has identified a large number of websites posing as South Korean companies and brands, including Doosan Robotics and liquor brand Chum-Churum, to induce cryptocurrency payments, SBS Biz reported. The sites used real company logos, promotional videos and introductory materials to mimic official homepages, while offering sign-up and login features, fee-history inquiries, VIP membership functions, and cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal functions. In online customer-service chats, the sites directed users to pay in USDT, provided a TRON wallet address, and asked users to submit transaction screenshots. In its analysis of a site impersonating Chum-Churum, AhnLab also confirmed five USDT deposits and three withdrawals involving a specific crypto wallet. All five deposits came from the same external wallet. The cumulative amount of USDT previously received by that external wallet was estimated at around 13 million USDT, or 17.3 billion won ($12.5 million).

Bitcoin has pulled back to around $80,800 after its summer rebound, while investor selling has capped further gains, Bloomberg reported, citing Glassnode data. Bloomberg said investors who bought BTC over the past two years have a breakeven level above roughly $87,000, and selling at that price area blocked two rebounds this year. Afterward, BTC generally fell more than 25%. The average cost basis for spot Bitcoin ETF investors is estimated at about $81,500. With BTC trading below that level, ETF investors have moved into loss on average, and the nearest on-chain support level has also disappeared. Meanwhile, decentralized prediction market Polymarket is pricing in a 17% chance that BTC reaches $100,000 this year and a 9% chance that it reaches $110,000.

Solana is moving beyond a meme coin-driven growth model and expanding into institutional finance, Bloomberg reported, citing a Galaxy Research report. SOL is down about 20% from the start of the year, and U.S.-listed spot and staking SOL ETFs posted total outflows of around $50 million over the past two weeks in October. The Solana Foundation plans to broaden practical financial use cases such as stablecoins and tokenized assets to attract participation from Wall Street institutional investors. Bloomberg said a key question for Solana’s future growth is whether it can secure a stable base of assets, developers, and users amid a weak crypto market and the rise of rivals such as Hyperliquid.

Spiral, Block’s open-source Bitcoin development organization, said weak demand rather than technological limitations is the main factor holding back broader BTC payment adoption. In a report published on GitHub, Spiral said payment technology such as the Lightning Network and BTC wallets has advanced significantly over the past seven years, but daily BTC usage remains limited. Holders tend to avoid spending BTC as they expect its price to rise, while merchants have little incentive to adopt BTC payments because consumer demand is low. Spiral also said major payment companies such as Stripe and Shopify are adopting stablecoins instead of BTC, while payment protocols for AI agents are effectively being built on stablecoins. If those payment methods become established in the market, BTC could face greater difficulty entering later, Spiral said. To boost BTC payment adoption, Spiral proposed supporting both BTC and dollar-denominated payments on the Lightning Network, targeting BTC payment demand in countries with unstable currencies, offering discounts and rewards for BTC payments, and developing new use cases such as micropayments based on AI service usage. Spiral also called on developers and payment companies to share additional ideas and relevant data.
