Privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcash will retire Sprout, a legacy privacy pool launched in 2016, through its NU7 network upgrade, CoinDesk reported. About 12,226 ZEC worth roughly $16 million remains in Sprout, and once the upgrade takes effect, use of those assets will be restricted even for holders of the private keys, effectively freezing the funds. The upgrade is aimed at retiring Sprout’s legacy transaction format to reduce software complexity and security risks. Holders of ZEC in the pool need to withdraw their assets before the upgrade. Assuming Zcash’s average block time remains 75 seconds, the NU7 upgrade is expected to take effect at 2:30 a.m. UTC on Nov. 6.

XRP Ledger fixed a security flaw that, under certain conditions, could have allowed accounts with only token-burning authority to mint new tokens, CoinDesk reported. The vulnerability stemmed from a feature that lets accounts delegate permissions to other accounts. Previously, accounts delegated authority to burn tokens such as stablecoins could in some cases also exercise minting authority, but the update separated the two permissions. The measure applies to assets issued on XRPL, including stablecoins, and is unrelated to XRP itself. No confirmed cases of real-world exploitation have been identified so far.

Arthur Hayes said large-scale share overhangs following the IPOs of major AI and big tech companies such as SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI could also hurt the crypto market. Hayes said about 8.6 billion SpaceX shares could be unlocked by the end of June next year, potentially increasing the number of shares in circulation by around 50%. Early IPO investors in Anthropic could face dilution of about 83%, while OpenAI may also choose to gradually release shares held by employees and early investors after a listing, he said. Hayes added that weaker AI stock prices could raise funding costs, and if related credit markets tighten, U.S. dollar liquidity could shrink and negatively affect crypto markets. He said BTC and other crypto assets could benefit, however, if the U.S. Federal Reserve and other major central banks begin supplying liquidity in response to a crisis.

Bitcoin’s cycle strength is weakening, but extreme signals typically seen at major turning points have yet to appear, according to CryptoQuant contributor CryptoOnchain. CryptoOnchain said the 30-day moving average of Bitcoin’s Cycle Extremes Index had fallen to 15.8%, entering the “Watch” and “Mild Pressure” range. Despite a significant correction, the index remains far from the activation phase tied to overheated market activity or more extreme conditions, the analysis said. Historically, the index surged around Bitcoin’s 2021 peak and during the 2024-2025 rally as market volatility and trading activity increased. By contrast, current cycle strength appears to have weakened sharply. While that suggests market pressure has eased, it does not mean the risk of further declines has disappeared. The Cycle Extreme Oscillator also supports a cautious outlook. Its 30-day moving average is near the lower end of its historical range and remains well below the 1.0 threshold that accompanied strong market moves in the past. For now, no clear cycle-extreme signal is being observed, according to the analysis. Taken together, the two indicators suggest Bitcoin is closer to an ongoing correction and slowing market activity than to a confirmed cycle bottom. The analysis added that low indicator readings alone, even after a steep decline, are not enough to conclude selling pressure has been exhausted, and that further sideways trading or another leg down cannot be ruled out before a sustained recovery.
