SEC chairman aims to launch crypto regulatory sandbox this yearU.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins said the agency is mobilizing all available resources to implement a regulatory sandbox for cryptocurrencies within the year, Cointelegraph reported. Speaking at a futures and derivatives event hosted by a law firm, Atkins acknowledged that the current government shutdown is significantly slowing progress. He emphasized, however, that the SEC is making its best effort to launch the sandbox by the end of this year or by the first quarter of next year at the latest. Atkins added that the U.S. has suppressed the crypto industry for at least the last four years, resulting in innovation that should have flourished domestically moving overseas.
