Canada moves to regulate stablecoins

The Canadian government plans to include a regulatory framework for stablecoins in its 2025 federal budget, Crypto Briefing reported. Under the proposal, the Bank of Canada, the country's central bank, would have regulatory jurisdiction over stablecoin issuance. The framework would also impose several obligations on issuers, including reserve requirements, risk management systems, redemption policies, and data protection duties.
