Tiger Research: Sentient challenges Big Tech AI monopoly with open-source AGI

November 06, 2025, 10:06 AM
The Sentient project is building an open-source Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) ecosystem to challenge the AI technology monopoly held by Big Tech firms and overcome the limitations of open-source models, according to a report by Asia-based Web3 research and consulting firm Tiger Research. The report, titled 'Sentient: Open AGI of the People, by the People, for the People,' explains that the project operates on the philosophy that AGI should be built through the collaboration of all humanity, not just a few companies. It aims to achieve both complete openness and fair compensation for builders through its GRID-centric open ecosystem. Furthermore, Sentient is developing community-driven, crypto-specific AI models like Dobby. While the report acknowledges that quality control and operational complexity remain challenges as participation grows, it concludes that Sentient's attempt to confront the issues of closed systems and monopolies in the AI industry is noteworthy.
